with a smattering of the MD Catholics here and there!
For the Maryland Catholic Peakes who immigrated to KY at the same time
as the VA Peakes (Baptists mostly) - DO take
a look at this site,
"The
Peakes of Nelson County KY, by R. Zwicker and John Stewart",
the website was created by Sherri Hessick, to make the work of these
two men available online. It is an infomative and comprehensive work
based on the book dating some lines back to the early 1600's.

The Owsley Connection:
Any of the Peaks whose line goes to John Peake III who married Lucy
Gregg, may want to look into the Owsley line. There is
a newsletter available, and much published information on this line, available.
Lucy was the daughter of Jane Owsley and James Gregg
Jane was the daughter Thomas Owsley and Ann Harris
Thomas the son of Major Thomas Owsley
born June 11, 1658
I traced this line for a while, and ran out of breath!

Another great site to check out is Ann
Woodlief's work on this line. She is related through Thomas,
son of John Peak III and Lucy Gregg.
Books I have on the Peaks:
Most of what I have on the Peaks comes from two books. One was
sent to me by a fellow researcher. It has a Name and Authors only,
listed only. I do not know if it is a copy, or if the book always
was in this form. It is stapled through 120 8 1/2 X 11 pages.
The other is a book that was available Online through AOL's genealogy,
at one time. By Cyrus Peak.
The first coveres the Maryland Catholic Peaks, and the second
the Virginia Baptist Peaks. That is my line. BOTH are
well indexed, if you have an inquiry, please send it to email.
Cyrus Peak's work begins with the immigrant, John Peak
of England. Born ca. 1627, d. September 1691 in Stafford County,
Virginia. He had been brought over by John Cheesman, and obtained
land in Nebasco Run, in the upper local of Crooked Creek, a tributary going
South off of the Occoquan river. Look between Prince William and
Fairfax Counties.
As early as 1477 the name was related to the Pykes, and
was later likely del Peck or del Pek. Another variation may have
been del Peke.
Cyrus' work notes that in the 1960 publication of "Early
Virginia Immigrants", by G.C. Greer, it states, "John Peake was bound headright,
brought over in 1662 by Lt. Col. John Cheesman, Accomack County, VA .
He also mentions that he was granted a land patent near the head of the
Potomac Creek, petitioned on June 11, 1690, and that he was discharged
from paying taxes because of health problems.
He died without a will.
