Philo Rockwell (b. 1817) of Cato, Auburn, and Elbridge, Cayuga Co., N.Y. [R237 in the 1st and 2nd editions, R240 in the 3rd edition]

Boughton (p. 94) identifies Philo's wife as Nancy Bassett. Nancy died on 29 October 1886, while Philo was living at Cato in 1894. Theur children, according to Boughton (p. 193):
  1. Stephen A. Rockwell, born 20 March 1840 at Cato. He married Kate Hovey and resided at Jordan [a village in the Town of Elbridge], N.Y., in 1894. Boughton had no report of children.
  2. Susan E. Rockwell, born 31 December 1844. She married John B. Smith, and they resided in Cato in 1894.
  3. Lewis J. Rockwell, born 21 April of 1849 at Cato. Boughton (p. 193) says that he married Helen Cornell, but in listing their only child, Lorin H. Rockwell (p. 337), he calls her Emma. This agrees better with the census report of her name as "Emily." The son may be the 38-year-old Lorin H. Rockwell found at Rockville, Nassau Co., N.Y., in the 1920 census, with wife Belsita and three children.
