The data from the original book which contained 10,746 descendants has been expanded to now include over 13,000 descendants. Over 20,000, including spouses and their parents. A brief biography of Artemas Ward, 1848 - 1925, the publisher. Perhaps the most famous descendant of William Ward was General Artemas Ward, often referred to as the first Commander-in-Chief of the American Revolution.
Included in the above database are many SHATTUCKs. I descend from a long line, starting with my fourth great grandmother, Electa SHATTUCK. It begins six generations earlier with William SHATTUCK, who came to New England in the early 1600's.CLICK HERE for an interesting excerpt from a book by Lemuel SHATTUCK, written in 1855, about the origins of the name and its various spellings.

"UNLINKED SHATTUCKS" DATABASE BY CHARLES HENRY SHATTUCK III
However, there are many other SHATTUCKs who remain unconnected or homeless. What to do with these people so they are not forgotten? Put them on line, of course! With notes and sources so future researchers will not have to re-research. If you find any SHATTUCKs during your research who are not in either database, I encourage you to include them. Please contact me if you can link to the original immigrant, William SHATTUCK, born about 1622; if you can link any of our "forgotten" SHATTUCKs in your tree; also, if you have evidence that your SHATTUCKs are not related to our original William SHATTUCK. It appears that the vast majority of SHATTUCKs in North America are related.
