The Ship Neptune, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Colony, 24 September 1751

From Pennsylvania German Pioneers [List 172C] At the Court House at Philadelphia, Tuesday, the 24th September 1751. Present: William Peters, Esquire The Foreigners whose names are underwriten, imported in the Ship Neptune, John Mason, Commander, from Rotterdam & last from Cowes, did this day take the usual Qualifications & subscribe them. By List 144. Whole Freights 300. Messrs. Shoemaker. Melchior Trautman Johann Petter Trautmann Johan Leonhart Trautman

The following are images of the signatures of Melchior (1729), Peter (1716), and Leonard Troutman (ancestor of the Kentucky Troutmans, and probably related to Peter and Melchior) from the 1751 ship list:
Melchior (1729)
Peter (1716)

Many of the letters in the above signatures are from the old German alphabet. The capital "P" in Peter's (1716) name is one of several ways that Germans wrote the letter "P." Notice also the way that Melchior (1729) signed his name. His name was not spelled Melchoir! That is one of my pet peeves in Troutman genealogy.
