Pheraby Mobley was the second wife of Roland Cook, and the mother of Avarilla Cook (the wife of Burrell H. Womack). Pheraby was born about 1785 in Wake Co, NC. She died between 1850 and 1860, probably in Carroll Co, TN. See the Cook page for more info on Roland and Pheraby's family.
The Mobley family comes from Wake Co, NC. Before then, this family was in Prince Edward Co, MD. According to some unverified info I found on the web, a Hammond Mobley (born about 1718) married Avarilla Vinson. These were very possibly Pheraby's grandparents. This would explain why Pheraby named a daughter Avarilla Cook.
A few Mobley families moved from Wake Co, NC to Gibson Co, TN between 1820 and 1830, including Ransom Mobley and Zachariah Mobley. Later, Elizabeth (Hall) Mobley, widow of Harbert Mobley from Wake Co, NC, also moved her family to Gibson Co, TN. It is very possible the Cooks and Mobleys made the trip to Tennessee together. Pheraby, Ransom, Zachariah, and Harbert may have all been siblings.
This family definitely needs some more reasearch and thought to find the connection between Pheraby and the rest of the Mobley family in Wake Co, NC.
