   New Year's Day.  Lib. Kolyer was here to help us receive calls.
   We had about 60 calls.  Had  a very nice time.  Frank J. Lott,
   Martin VanSiclen, George Terry & Abie Stockholm spent the evening
   here.  Went to bed 1 1/2 o'clock.  I had an invitation to go to
   the Farmer's Sociable, F. L.[Frank Lott], but I refused.

   We went to Husson's and spent the evening.  Had a very nice time,
   dancing &c.  Arrived at home 10 1/2 o'clock.  11 o'clock.

   Pa & Ma went to Brooklyn.  I wrote a letter to Libbie Dayton.  10 o'clock.

   I went to Church in the morning.  We went to Sunday School.  A very heavy
   fog in the afternoon.  George Terry was at S.S. he came home with me and
   staid until 10 1/2 o'clock.  11 o'clock.

   Rather stormy.  Lib. Annie & I went to Mary Lib's. in the morning & staid
   all day.  Mary Lib. came home with us and staid all night.  Foster Burtis
   & Charlie DeBeVoise spent the evening here.  11  o'clock.

   Rained all day.  Mary Lib. is here again all night, got storm, staid, 
   couldn't get home.  I was sick all day, had fever.  Sarah & Jimmy have

   Rain yet, a regular storm.  Lib. Kolyer & Mary Lib. are here yet and no
   signs of getting home and she didn't get home either, staid all night

   Quite pleasant, but dreadful muddy roads.  Mary Lib. went home in the
   morning.  We had quite a large company here in the evening.  There were

   Very pleasant, quite a contrast to the weather lately.  Pa & Ma went to
   Brooklyn.  Lib. Kolyer went home, she staid here over a week.  I took
   them down to the village.  A. Maria came here.  I went to the villlage
   after Pa & Ma.  9 o'clock.

   Very pleasant. Mr. Gulick was here.  Grandpa & Annie Kolyer called.  Will
   Hulst and Angeline (bride & groom) came here to dinner.  Went home in the
   afternoon about 4 o'clock.  Pa & Elouise went to New York.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   I did not go to Church in the morning.  We all went to S.S.  Very pleasant.
   Whit. Powell was here in the afternoon.  Annie went to Church at Hempstead
   with Foster Burtis.  George Way & Will Mitchell spent the evening here.

   Quite pleasant.  Ma & Annie went to Brooklyn.  I took them to the villlage
   Sarah & Elouise went to school.  Abe Smith called here.  The grand Farmer's
   Sociable is tonight, but I am not going.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   We are having quite  a snow storm, and I hope that sleighing will be the
   next thing in order.  I went to the village in the sleigh with Pa in the 
   afternoon & called at U. Ike's.  Jerry Lott was here in the afternoon.  I 
   went on a straw sleigh ride to Hempstead.  Foster Burtis, C. D.B.V., Ike 
   VanAlst, F. Hendrickson, B. Bergen, G.H. Lott, Annie Duryea, Etta & Carrie 
   Lott, Mamie & myself had a splendid time.  Annie was sick and couldn't go.  
   Pa & Ma spent the evening at Mr. Berry's.  2 1/2 o'clock.

   Clear.  Bennie Carpenter called here in the morning.  Pa went to Brooklyn.  
   Sarah & Elouise went to school.  Schoonmaker Amberman called here in the 
   morning.  9 o'clock.

   Fearfully cold all day.  Annie is sick yet.  Dr. Hendrickson called and gave 
   Annie a good dose of medicine.  9 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  Pa, Ma & Grandma went to Uncle Abie DeBeVoise's and spent the 
   evening.  Pa received a letter from J. Gazlay.  10 o'clock.

   Clear.  I went to Church in the morning.  Mr. VanSlyke had a splendid sermon. 
    Matt. 5:13.  We did not go to S.S. as the walking was bad.  Aunt Anna 
    brought the baby here.  Jimmy Nostrand was here in the evening.  10 1/2 
    o'clock.

   Very foggy & rainy.  I took Sarah & Elouise to school & Pa went to Brooklyn.  
   Ma took Grandma to A. Amelia's.  9 o'clock.

   Pa, Ma & Grandma went to Uncle Abe's to supper.  Very pleasant 9 1/2 o'clock.

   Snowed a little in the morning, but it turned to rain.  Charlie D.B.V. called 
   here in the morning.  Pa, Ma, Grandma, Annie & myself spent the evening at 
   Benj. Carpenter's.  Ritie Lott was here.  10 1/2 o'clock.

   Stormy.  Pa took Sarah & Ritie to school.  Pa, Ma, Annie & Sarah spent the 
   evening at Isaac Amberman's.  Mrs. Rogers washed for us.  11 o'clock.

   The storm still continues.  I went to the village for Sarah.  Annie & I 
   received an invitation to Carrie Bergen's sociable, but I don't expect to get 
   there.  9 o'clock.

   Clear as a bell.  Mr. Gulick was here all day.  Uncle Ike called in the 
   morning.  Aunt Maria came here.  Anna Jacobson & Katie Burtis called here.  
   Annie took Grandma to U. John's.  Mr. Kirby called here in the evening.  Pa & 
   Ma went to the village.  11 o'clock.

   Clear, but very cold.  I did not go to Church or Sunday School.  Was home all 
   day and did not have any calls.  9 o'clock.

   Clear & cold.  A. Maria came here and staid all night.  Uncle Abe D.B.V. 
   called.  Pa, Ma, Annie, Sarah & myself spent the evening at Mr. N. Everitt's. 
   Had a very nice time.  1 o'clock.

   Quite pleasant.  Pa went to Brooklyn.  Annie & I called at U. Ike's in the 
   afternoon.  Uncle Peter Hulst called here in the evening and took us 
   completely by surprise.  Mr. Gulick was here.  9 o'clock.

   Stormy in the morning, but cleared off in the afternoon, when Uncle Abe's 
   family, Uncle Ike & us went to Mrs. Schoonmaker's.  Mary Lib., Annie & myself 
   staid all night.  Had a very nice time.  1 o'clock.

   Aunt Anna and us came up in the 4 1/2 o'clock train, Southside.  We went to 
   Hendrick Lott's awhile and from there went to John H. Brinkerhoff's and spent 
   the evening.  Had dancing, played games, &c.  Enjoyed ourselves very much.  I 
   saw Frank J. Lott.  2 o'clock.

   Rather overcast is the weather.  I went to the village for Sarah, fearfully 
   cold.  Pa, Ma, Grandma, Annie & Sarah spent the evening at Mr. Ephraim 
   Carpenter's.  They did not get home until 12 o'clock.  I made a block of 
   patchework for an album quilt for Alice Clemison.  12 1/2 o'clock.

   Cold and snowy.  Pa went to New York.  Emmie Husson called & invited us there 
   Friday Eve.  Charlie D.B.V.  called here in the afternoon.  Mary was here 
   awhile.  Ma & Sarah went to the village.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   Very cold.  I went to Church in the morning.  Sermon, John 3:3.  I went to 
   Sunday School.  All my scholars were there.  I saw O. Burtis & Foster.  No 
   calls.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   Very cold & some snow.  Pa took Sarah down to U. Abie D.B.V.'s to go to a 
   reception at school for Maggie Fleury & Flo McCormick to graduate.  It snowed 
   very fast towards night, so Pa did not go down.  Sarah spoke in a german 
   dialogue.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   Hail and snow.  Quite good sleighing.  Pa & Ma spent the evening at Stephen 
   Ryder's.  Charlie & Mary Lib. called here.  Steve Whaley called, and invited 
   me to go to a New Lots sociable tomorrow evening at Vanderveer's, but as I 
   intended going to Anderson's, I refused, although sorry afterwards.  11 
   o'clock.

   Clear and cold.  Uncle Aaron came here to dinner and took Grandma home with 
   him.  Pa, Ma, Annie & myself spent the evening at Will. Anderson's.  Had a 
   very nice time.  Will & I had a polka, danced quadrille &c., had singing, 
   played games, &c. &c. got acquainted with David Anderson & Henry A.  1 1/2 
   o'clock.

   Clear as a bell and cold.  Mrs. Rogers washed for us.  Uncle Ike called in 
   the morning.  Uncle Abe in the afternoon and we were very much surprised by a 
   call from Nobie Lott in the evening.  9 o'clock.

   Clear and cold.  Pa, Ma, Annie & myself spent the evening at Mr. Husson's.  
   There was quite a company there.  Had a very nice time, dancing &c.  I danced 
   twice with Foster Burtis, once with C. D.B.V., &c.  Had quite a snow storm in 
   the night.  2 1/2 o'clock.

   Still snowing and quite deep.  Pa went to Brooklyn.  George Shnurr was here 
   last night, went home today.  Splendid sleighing.  I went on a straw ride to 
   East New York in the evening.  Had a splendid time.  Steve Whealey, Anthony & 
   two sisters & neice, Foster Burtis, Sam. Colton, Lottie & Phenie Husson, Lucy 
   Elliott, Bill Whitehead & Phenie, Charlie D.B.V. & Mame, Theo. Chapman & 
   Gussie, George Morrell, two Miss Neal's, Phebe Rust, Mary Morrell, Eugene 
   Bakely.  We went to Wheelan's, had a gay time.  12 1/2 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  I did not go to Church,  We went to Sunday School, drove 
   ourselves in the sleigh.  Pa, Ma & Sarah went to Church in the evening.  9 
   1/2 o'clock.

   Clear.  Pa & Ma took Sarah to New Utrecht to stay.  Uncle Ike & Mary Lib. 
   called here in the afternoon.  In the evening I went on a straw sleigh ride 
   to Hempstead with same company that went last time.  We went to Hewlett's, 
   had dancing &c.  1 1/2 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  Geo. L. Powell came in the morning and fixed our stove.  Pa & 
   Ma went to U. Ike's to dinner.  Uncle John & A. Sarah D.B.Voise called in the 
   morning.  Elias & Hessie Hendrickson called.  Pa & Ma spent the evening at 
   William Bailey's.  11 o'clock.

   Clear.  Uncle Ike called.  Pa, Ma & myself took a sleigh ride to the village 
   and from there went to William Ludlum's and spent the evening.  Had a very 
   nice time, there were quite a number there.  1 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  Pa & Ma went to Brooklyn.  Annie took them to the village in 
   the sleigh and they had an upset, did not hurt them any.  Annie brought Mary 
   A. Powell & Miss Simonson, from New York, home with her to spend the day & I 
   took them back in the afternoon & brought Pa & Ma home.  Johnny Hendrickson 
   was here to dinner.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   Rain.  Sleighing all gone.  Rain all day and all night.  Pa has got us a new 
   singing piece, "The Mulligan Guards".  9 o'clock.

   Clear.  I wrote a letter to Sarah Schenck.  Annie went to the village with Pa 
   & Ma in the evening.  9 1/2 o'clock.
2/15
   Very pleasant.  I went to Church in the morning.  Saw Frank J. Lott.  We went 
   to Sunday School, quite a number out.  Saw Foster Burtis.  Pa & Ma went to 
   Church in the evening.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   Rather stormy.  Uncle Abe called here in the afternoon.  I commenced to make 
   a log cabin quilt.  9 o'clock.
2/17
   Clear and cold.  We sewed patch work all day.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  In the morning Annie & I walked down to Mrs. Powell's, staid 
   there all day and were going to Mrs. H. Lott's all night, but Uncle Abe 
   D.B.V. came there for us to stay at his house and take care of the children, 
   as they were going to Skidmore's.  So we went.  We called on Sarah Ludlum, 
   saw the baby.  Minnie Simonson & Hester D. were at Mary Aletta's.  Had a very 
   nice time.  5 in a bed.  12 o'clock.
2/19
   Quite pleasant.  Annie & I walked home from A. Anna's in the morning.  U. Ike 
   called here.  I went to the village and took Mrs. Rogers home.  9 1/2 
   o'clock.

   Quite pleasant.  Pa, Ma & Annie spent the evening at Andrew DeBeVoise's.  I 
   wrote a letter to Aunt Sarah.  11 1/2 o'clock.

   Clear.  I went to the village with Pa & Ma.  Expected Mrs. Davis here from 
   Fresh Ponds, but she did not come.  Ma & I went to the depot for her.  I had 
   a walk with Frank Lott in the village.  10 o'clock.
2/22
   Quite pleasant.  I did not go to Church.  I went to S.S.  Martie Ditmas, my 
   scholar, has got the measles.  Foster Burtis & Charlie DeBeVoise came here to 
   take Annie & I to the Dutch Reformed Anniversary but Annie had gone with Pa & 
   Ma & I had to stay at home & keep house.  Frank J. Lott spent the evening 
   here.  I had two invitations to go to Anniversary but couldn't.  12 1/2 
   o'clock.

   Clear.  George Terry called here in the afternoon, celebrating Washington's 
   birthday.  Pa & Ma went to the village.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   Rather unpleasant.  Ma went to Uncle John's in the afternoon.  Lottie Husson 
   called here.  Whit. Powell spent the evening here.  11 1/2 o'clock.

   We are having quite a snow storm.  We were going to an apron & neck-tie fair 
   of the D.R. Sunday School but were prevented by the storm.  9 o'clock.

   Quite good sleighing.  Pa & Ma went to the village.  A. Maria came here and 
   staid all night.  9 1/2 o'clock.
2/27
   Annie took A. Maria to U. John D.B.V.'s.  Pa, Ma & myself spent the evening at 
   John D.B.V.'s.  George Higbie called here.  12 o'clock.

   Clear.  Pa went to market.
3/1
   Communion Sunday.  I went to Church in the morning.  Uncle Abe brought Aunt Anna 
   here to spend the afternoon and drove us to S.S.  Harmy & Gertie S. were here 
   also.  When we got home from S.S. we found Whit. Powell & Hance Cain here. 
   They staid until 7 o'clock.  10 o'clock.
3/2
   Clear.  Ma & I went to Brooklyn.  I got a pair of oxydized ball ear-rings, 
   $1.00.  We called at Grandpa's & Lib. Kolyer's.  Mr. & Mrs. Croucher called 
   here in the evening.  Dave Anderson, George Higbie, Tut. Carpenter, Charlie & 
   Gus Everritt, Fannie Ludlum, Alice Clemison & Jennie Carpenter spent the 
   evening here, had a very nice time.  I received a letter from Sarah Schenck.  
   She is coming here Friday to stay.  1 1/2 o'clock.

   Clear.  Pa went to New Utrecht to bring Grandma & Sarah home.  They arrived 
   home about 8 o'clock.  Yesterday Ma & I called at Mr. VanSlyke's, saw the 
   baby.  John Amberman was there.  Mr. Gulick was here yesterday.

   Rather stormy in the morning.  Ma & I went to A. Kate Lott's to help make 
   cake for her party tomorrow night.  Made two cream, 2 chocolate waffles &c.  
   Pa, Ma & Grandma called at Mr. Amberman's in the evening.  9 o'clock.

   Very Pleasant.  Mr. Gulick was here.  Mrs. Rogers washed for us.  Jerry Lott 
   came here in the afternoon & Pa, Ma, Annie, Jerry & myself went to a party at 
   A. Kate Lott's.  There were quite a number there & we had a very nice time, 
   dancing, singing &c.  I danced with John O'Donnell, Sam. Colton, John Powell, 
   Steve Powell, Jerry Lott, Charlie D.B. & Lin. Young took me to supper.  2 1/2

   I did not go to Church.  It snowed in the afternoon, so we could not go to

   Very cold and windy.  Mary Lib. went home in the morning.  Jerry went home 
   in the afternoon.  Had a gay old time in the morning in the parlor.  Sarah 
   Schenck is staying here.  9 o'clock.

   Clear, but cold.  Pa, Ma, Annie, Sarah Schenck & myself spent the evening at 
   Mr. Husson's.  Uncle Abie & A. Annie D.B., Uncle Abe & A. Anna D.B.V., U. Jim 
   & A. Kate Lott were there, had a real nice time.George Harry Lott called here 
   in the afternoon and invited Annie & I to a party at M. Etta Lott's next 
   week.  12 o'clock.

   Clear and cold.  John Bergen spent the evening here.  Sarah Schenck & I wrote 
   a letter, a very important one.  12 1/2 o'clock.

   Pa, Ma, Annie, Sarah Schenck & I spent the evening at U. Abe D.B.V.'s.  Addie 
   S. was there & several others.  Annie, Sarah & I took a ride to the village 
   in the morning.  12 1/2 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  Sarah Schenck went to Church & Sunday School with us.  Mr. 
   Hegeman preached for us.  Martie Ditmas was at S.S.  He has had the measles.  
   John Bergen spent the evening here.  Pa & Ma went to our Church in the 
   evening.  Mr. VanSlyke preached a grand temperance sermon.  12 1/2 o'clock.

   Rather overcast.  Sarah & I took a ride to the village.  Sarah, annie & 
   myself spent the afternoon at Mary Lib's.  Jim & Phebe Lott & Sarah were here 
   to tea.  John O'Donnell called.  10 o'clock.

   Stormy.  St. Patrick's Day.  Had company in the evening, expected more, but 
   they did not come.  Mr. & Mrs. Purdy, Mr. & Mrs. Morrell, Mr. & Mrs. 
   Croucher, Uncle Ike, Mary Lib., & Charlie, George M. & John Bergen spent the 
   evening here.  Sarah Schenck's birth-day is to-day.  20 years old.  1 1/2 
   o'clock.

   Stormy.  John Bergen came here in the evening to take Sarah Schenck home.  
   They went home 9 1/2 o'clock.  Frank Lott spent the evening here.  I am going 
   with him to a sociable at Marietta Lott's to-morrow night.  He gave me his 
   picture.  11 1/2 o'clock.

   Rather overcast.  Charlie D.B.V. called here in the morning.  He asked Annie 
   to go with him to-night.  I went to a sociable at Marietta Lott's with Frank 
   Lott.  Had a pleasant time.  Got home four o'clock.  I received a letter from 
   A. Sarah.  4 1/2 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  Annie went to Bushwick to stay.  Ma & Grandma went to the 
   funeral of Mr. Gulick's baby.  9 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  Ms went to Bushwick.  I took her to the village.  U. Abe 
   Stockholm called.  I wrote a letter to A. Sarah.  10 o'clock.
3/22
   Clear.  I went to Church in the morning and Sunday School in the afternoon.  
   I played on the organ.  Whit. Powell came here in the afternoon and staid 
   until 10 o'clock.  He asked me to go to Temperance lecture at Presbyterian 
   Church, but I couldn't leave.  Home all alone.  Frank Lott & Mart. VanSiclen 
   spent the evening here.  12 1/2 o'clock.

   Rather windy.  I walked down to the village to go to Annie Eldert's.  Stopped 
   at Aunt Anna's a while.  Went down in the horse cars and arrived there about 
   4 o'clock.  Wind nearly blew me away.  10 o'clock.

   Rather cold.  I was at Annie E.'s all day.  Pa, Ma & Grandma came there to 
   supper.  I came home with them about 9 o'clock.  Aunt Annie was there.  Ritie 
   & Lottie Lott staid here all night.  I received an invitation to a surprise 
   party at Mary A. Powell's, also one from George Hendrickson to an exhibition 
   at his college, New York.  11 o'clock.

   Quite pleasant.  Ritie & Lottie went home.  Mr. Gulick was here.  Pa, Ma & 
   Grandma spent the evening at Uncle Ike's.  Charlie came over after me, so I 
   went too and staid all night.  Had a very nice time.  Addie Schoonmaker and 
   many others were there.  11 o'clock.

   Rather unpleasant.  I walked home in the morning from U. Ike's.  Pa, Ma, 
   Sarah & I went to Hendrick Lott's & spent the evening.  There was quite a 
   large company there.  Had a very nice time.  Got acquainted with Frank & 
   George Squires.  Danced, &c.  Got home 1 1/2 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  Ma & I went with Grandma to Uncle John's.  We went to the 
   village.  I wrote a letter to Sarah Schenck.  9 o'clock.

   Clear.  I called at Mrs. Conrad's in the afternoon.  Pa & Ma went to the 
   village and brought Annie home with them.  She has been staying to Bushwick.  
   11 o'clock.

   Pleasant.  I went to Church in the morning.  Ma staid at home as she has a 
   cold.  Pa went to Grandpa's from Church & I drove home.  I went to S.S.  We 
   called at Kirby's.  Borrowed a singing book.  Abe Wyckoff spent the evening

   Quite pleasant.  April Fools' Day.  Annie & I went to S.S. to practice for 
   the Anniversary.  Went to the new school-house.  Called at A. Anna's.  I sent

   Very pleasant.  I went to Conrad's in the morning for butter.  Pa, Ma, 
   Grandma & Annie spent the evening at Mrs. Powell's, Jamaica.  I received a

   afternoon.  We took a little walk with her.  Uncle Abe was here to supper 9

   Abie S. walked home with us, they staid until 6 o'clock.  Rain very fast in

   Gulick's, had a little walk with John O'Donnell, went to his office, ordered

   Eldert's for cherry grafts, so I walked to the village.  Went to Grandpa's, 
   staid there to dinner.  Sarah came up with me.  Started about 1/2 past two 
   from Grandpa's.  Went to Annie Delia's.  Got there about 4 o'clock.  Jennie 
   was there, she & I came up in the 1/2 past 5 train.  Arrived at Jamaica, 
   found Annie, Mary Lib. & Sarah there.  All walked home together.  Annie & I 
   went home with Mary Lib. & staid all night.  Foster Burtis was there.  12 
   o'clock.

   Tuesday's events.  Rather unpleasant.  Lottie and Phenie Husson came here in 
   the afternoon.  Sam. Colton came in the evening, they staid until 11 o'clock.
   Wednesday.  Mary L., Annie & Sarah, Etta & Carrie Lott & myself went to 
   Brinkerhoff's & got weighed.  I weigh 117 lbs., Mame 108, Annie 157.  Mary L. 
   was here all day.

   Rain all day.  Annie & I staid at Mary Lib's all day.  Pa & Ma came after us 
   in the afternoon.  Mrs. Anderson & Jennie called here yesterday.  9 o'clock.

   Stormy in the morning, clear in the afternoon.  Ma & Grandma went to the 
   funeral of Mr. Leek.  Grandma went to U. Frank's.  Whit. Powell spent the

   I went to Church in the morning.  I went to S.S.  Annie had a cold & didn't go.  I

   Clear.  I started for New Utrecht.  Ma went with me to Brooklyn.  I got a 
   blue neck-tie & cord, needle &c to make table mats.  Called on John O'Donnell 
   in the morning.  Met Annie Spedding in the Court St. car & we went together 
   the rest of our journey.  Took the 3 o'clock dummy.  Arrived at U. Aaron's 
   about 4 o'clock.  Jerry & Charlie were the only ones home.  The rest came 
   home immediately.  I went to prayer meeting at Edgewood in the evening.  I 
   received a letter from A. Sarah.  10 o'clock.

   Rather unpleasant.  Aunt Cynthia's sister Lettie came there for her to go 
   calling.  I went over to Spedding's with them.  Letta & Evert were there to 
   tea.  Jake Connor came for Jerry to go to Spedding's.  They insisted on me 
   going along, so I went.  Had a very nice time, staid until 10 1/2 o'clock.  
   11 o'clock.

   Pleasant during the day, but rain in the evening.  Nettie Spedding came over 
   to U. Aaron's in the afternoon, and I was there in the morning.  Jerry went 
   to Bayridge with John Conover.  Charlie & I played games.  10 o'clock.

   Pleasant.  Pa went to Spedding's in the morning.  Mollie & Nettie were over 
   in the afternoon.  Nettie staid to tea.  In the evening Charlie & Nettie & 
   Jerry & I went to a lecture at the Hall, by Mr. Sutphin, on Martin Luther.  
   Very interesting.  Had a splendid ride.  Arrived at home about ten o'clock.  
   10 1/2 o'clock.

   Rain steady all day and all night.  Jerry & I were going to Brooklyn 
   to-night, but the rain prevented.  We played games all the afternoon.  Mollie 
   put her sign in the window, but I couldn't go over.  10 o'clock.

   Pleasant.  Nettie came over in the morning and invited me over there to tea.  
   I went over about 3 o'clock.  Jerry came over in the evening, and we staid 
   until 9 o'clock.  Had a very nice time.  A. Cynthia had the rheumatism in her 
   hands.  I helped her make cake in the morning & Jerry helped us eat it.  9 
   1/2 o'clock.

   Pleasant.  I went to Church in the morning, went to prayer meeting first.  
   Jerry went out riding in the afternoon with Jake Cocover.  Nettie came over 
   in the afternoon and we went to Church with U. Aaron & Charlie & Abie came 
   home with us.  Aunt Cynthia staid at home.  Jerry took me to H. W. Beecher's 
   Church at night.  The first time I have been there, it was very nice, church 
   crowded.  Had a very nice ride there, but it rained when we came home.  
   Arrived at home before 11 o'clock.  11 1/2 o'clock.

   Rain all day.  Jerry gave me his picture & his cards, 4, and he took one to 
   U. Charles's in the afternoon.  I staid there until Friday.  Jim & Phebe were 
   over there.  9 o'clock.

   Pleasant.  Sarah & the children & myself spent the day at Phebe's.  Mary 
   Bennett & her mother were there all day.  Dolph. Bennett, Henry Suydam & wife 
   came there to tea.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   Quite pleasant.  Aunt Maria Smith at Phebe's was taken very sick with 
   apoplexy.  Charlie came over to U. Charlie's.  I saw Jerry.  Nettie Conover 
   called in the afternoon.

   Rain all day.  Dr. Schenck took me over to Barney's to spend the day.  I 
   staid there all day and Barney took me back to Uncle Charles's at night.  9

   I came home from New Utrecht.  Uncle Charles took me to Barney's & I got the 
   10 1/2 dummy.  Went to Brooklyn, to Chase's &c.  Arrived home at Jamaica 2

   Rain all day.  Annie & I have each got 100 cards, visiting, printed by John 
   O'Donnell.  Pa & Ma went to the village in the rain.

   Clear, but cold & windy.  I went to Church in the morning.  Mr. Wells 
   preached for us.  I went to Sunday School.  Frank Lott & Mart. VanSiclen came 
   here before dark and took Annie & I to the Presbyterian Anniversary.  They

   Clear.  Annie took Sarah & Elouise to school.  Georgie was here.  9 o'clock.

   Clear early in the morning but rain about nine o'clock.  Sarah & Elouise went 
   to school and did not come home.  Pa & Ma went to the village.  I finished a 
   wrapper for myself and sewed on my brick quilt, delaine.  9 o'clock.

   Stormy and rain again all day, snowed considerable.  Sarah & Elouise did not 
   come home.  Johnnie Powell & Erv. Case spent the evening here.  Mary L. was 
   here in the aft.  12 1/2 o'clock.

   Wind blew fearfully.  I went to Mrs. Schoonmaker's with A. Anna to go to a 
   fair down there before dinner.  Went to the fair all the afternoon & Evening. 
   Had a lovely time.  Nealy D.B.V., Gertie Fowler & Lottie Main were at 
   Schoonmaker's.  I was introduced to a great many people.  Addie S. treated me 
   to 2 plates of ice-cream, bananas, lemonade & took me in the art gallery, 
   also Johnnie Prall took me in there, gave me candy, lemonade &c.  George 
   Vandewater gave me my supper, lemonade &c.  Enjoyed myself amazingly.  Ma 
   went to Brooklyn & bought Annie & I black sacks.  Mary Lib. was here all day 
   with Annie.  I bought a sweeping cap at the Fair.  Addie S. gave Dolly White, 
   Nealy D.B.V. & myself a Soap Monkey.  Johnnie Prall gave me a box of candy.
   Got home 1 o'clock.  Gertie Fowler & I slept together.  I had quite an 
   adventure. Slept in something strange.

   off in the afternoon, when Sarah Kirby came after me to go around for 
   Anniversary.  We called at Leek's, Morrell's, Hendrick's, Croucher's, Aunt 
   Anna's & Eschenbecker's.  Came home across lots from the latter place.  Mary 
   Lib. was here all night, brought a black sack for Ma to make.  10 o'clock.

   here.  Pa went over to market all night.  A Anna came here, left the children

   Jerry Lott came about 11 o'clock and told us that Uncle Charles Lott is dead.

   Smith.  Charlie Kay & Abie Stockholm came home from S.S. with us & Whit.

   I started to go to Church, but it was too late to go in, so we came back

   Clear.  Lib., Annie & I went to Brooklyn in the morning.  I got a belt to 
   bead for myself.  I saw Abe Wyckoff, J. Vandevere, &c.  Annie & I took a bath 
   at Lib's house.  I went to a store on Broadway with Ann Lib. & we had a plate 
   of ice-cream.  9 o'clock.

   I spent the day at Ann Lib. Kinsey's, Lottie Colyer was there.  I called on 
   Maggie Hulst.  Lib. K. staid at Grandpa's with me.  10 o'clock.

   I came home from Grandpa's in the afternoon, called at Etta Lott's.  Pa came 
   after me.  Showered in the night.  Arrived at home 8 1/2 o'clock.  Annie says 
   she has the Dutch measles.  10 o'clock.

   Rather showery.  I did not go to Church.  A. Anna left the children here.  We 
   went to S.S.  Mary Lib. was there & she came home with me & staid all night.  
   Johnnie Suydam, Dave Springsteen, Foster Burtis, Charlie D. & Ike VanAlst 
   spent the evening here.  Johnnie gave Annie a box of candies.  12 1/2

   Very pleasant.  I went to the village in the morning.  A. Mary came here with 
   Mannie in the morning.  Annie & I called on Mrs. Berry & Jennie Carpenter in 
   the afternoon, but Jennie was sick, so we didn't see her.  Pa & Ma went to

   Rain a trifle in the afternoon.  Ma & Jimmy went to Brooklyn.  Ma got 
   needlework for my white polonaise.  Annie, Elouise & myself are alone all

   Clear.  Elouise, Jimmy & I went to the village.  I took some potatoes & milk 
   to Mr. VanSlyke's.  Uncle Gabe & Aunt Mary came here and staid all night.

   Very pleasant.  Pa, Uncle Gabe, U. Abe & U. Ike went out fishing in the bay.  
   Started from home 1 o'clock at night.  They got 9 blue fish.  They all staid

   Very pleasant.  I went to Church in the morning & to Sunday School in the 
   afternoon.  I have a new scholar in my class.  Adam Ebert & he is very smart.

   Reformed S.S. at Eldert's Grove, Rockaway.  Had a very nice time.  Saw a

   with her & intends staying until Saturday.  Ma cut out some sewing for me.

   VanSiclen spent the evening here.  How are those almonds & apples getting

   A splendid day in regards the weather.  I went to Church, also to Sunday 
   School.  One of my scholars, Adam Ebert, left S.S. as he lives in Sing Sing.

   children were here to dinner, she used to work for Ma at the store.

   bell 1/2 past three o'clock in the morning.  Startled us all very much.

   Very warm.  Pa & U. Gabe went to the meadows.  Ma, A. Sarah & our Annie spent 
   the day at Rockaway.  I took them to the village & spent my day at home.

   Clear & warm.  A. Sarah & I went to Bushwick.  We called at Ditmas 
   Stoothoff's & arrived at Mr. Hulst's about 5 o'clock & staid there all night. 
   We called at Grandpa's.  I wrote a letter to Sarah.  Ed. & Amanda were at 
   Hulst's.  10 o'clock.  A fearfully warm night, could hardly sleep at all.

   around there.  I went to Grandpa's to tea & then went to Hulst's & staid all

   here.  Abe asked me to go to the Farmer's picnic, Sept. 1st.  Johnnie Suydam

   Very pleasant.  I did not go to Church or Sunday School, as my face was 
   burned very badly.  I looked like a boiled lobster.  Abe Wyckoff came here 
   before night to tell me what time we were going to the picnic, he didn't stay

   Church in the morning.  We did not go to S.S. as it was stormy.  Mary &

   Suydam spent the evening here.  Frankie asked me to go to the Agriculural 
   Fair with him , but as I was engaged, I had to refuse.  Too bad, don't give

   Frank Lott's pencil & he has got my motto ring.  Ma & I went to the village.  
   I called at Laura Brinkerhoff's.  She wants me to play a duet with her at a 
   concert in the Methodist Church Monday eve.  Mr. Clary asked me to play it.

   Very pleasant.  I took Ma & Annie to the village, they went to Brooklyn & I 
   brought Mrs. Rogers up to wash.  I went after them in the afternoon.  I 
   called at Laura B's & we practiced our duet.  Ma got me a pair of star 
   earrings & a red neck-tie.  I got a letter from Sarah Schenck.  9 1/2

   Very pleasant.  Ma & I went to the village.  Ma went to Mrs. Huntting's 
   funeral & I went to Laura B's. to call, but we are not going to play our duet 
   at the concert.  Frank Lott brought Jennie Williamson here in the evening to 
   call, I took a little ride with them.  I got a letter from sister Sarah.

   Quite stormy.  Pa, Ma, Grandma & Sarah went out to the Fair in the big 
   carriage.  Annie went with Frank Lott & I went with Abe Wyckoff, about noon.  
   We had a very nice time.  Had our dinner out to the Fair & had our supper at 
   Lane's.  It rained very fast in the evening & we had to stay at Lane's until 
   10 o'clock.  Saw lots of folks & had a good time in general.  Abe & Frank 
   staid here until about 12 o'clock.  12 1/2 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  Ritie & Lottie Lott & Gertie Gulick came here in the morning 
   & went to the Fair with us in the market wagon.  Mary Lib. went with us part 
   of the way, then went with Frank H.  Annie went with Johnnie Suydam.  I met 
   Lib. Kolyer out there & we went together all day.  Had a fine time.  Saw a 
   great many people that we know.  We met Abe Wyckoff & Frank Lott & they

   Very cold.  I went to Church in the morning.  Mary Lib. was there & sat with 
   us.  Had a chat with Johnnie Suydam.  We did not go to S.S. as the wind blew

   Clear.  Pa, Lillie & Gertie, Sarah, Elouise & myself went out chestnutting in 
   Morrell's woods & we got 22 qts.  Lillie & Gertie went home.  I went to Mary 
   Lib's & staid all night, as her Pa isn't home.  George Hendrickson spent the

   Pleasant.  I went to Brooklyn alone.  I got some honey-comb canvass & worsted 
   for a tidy & some wash blond.  I called at A. Hattie's for Lillie to show mw

   village.  I saw Mart. VanSiclen, had quite a chat with him.  Arrived home 
   about 8 1/2 o'clock.

   present of a piece of music from Abe.  Abe lent me a microscope to put on my

   the sewing society of our Church here in the evening.  There was quite a

   The weather is rather dubious to-day.  The two Charlie's went home in the 
   afternoon.  Lizzie & Lottie went home also.  Pa & Ma went to the village.  I 
   went over to A. Anna's & took her chairs home.  9 1/2 o'clock.

   Rain in the morning, but cleared off toward night.  Pa & Ma went to Church in 
   the morning.  We did not go to S.S.  George VanNostrand & Whit. Powell spent

   Clear & cold.  Annie & I went to Anna VanSiclen's & spent the afternoon & 
   evening.  We staid there until 9 o'clock, when the all, (Anna, Phebe, Abie & 
   Sarah Schenck) came home with us & staid about an hour.  We had a gay time.

   Clear & not so extremely cold for the first day of Winter.  Uncle Ike, Uncle 
   Gabe, Charlie, Mary, &c are over here helping kill swine.  Pa, Ma, Annie & 
   Sarah went to a surprise party at Mr. Battie's.  I staid at home & kept 
   house.  We had some snow.  1 o'clock.

   the Church, how thankful & happy we should be.

   Church, all the rest went.  I went to S.S.  Will Mitchell, George Way, 
   Johnnie Suydam, Johnnie Vanderveer, Johnnie Eldert & Tom Napier spent the 
   evening here.  Tom lent me his ring.  2 o'clock.

   Very pleasant.  Quite a day of adventures.  Well, in the morning Pa, Ma, 
   Annie & I went to Uncle Ike's to help kill swine.  About 1 1/2 o'clock Abe 
   Wyckoff & Frank Lott came there & staid until 3 1/2 o'clock, when we all 
   started for home.  Abe, Frank, Annie & I in a buggy.  When about half way 
   home, we met Georgie coming back with our carriage, so Abe & I got out & we 
   came home in separate conveyances.

   We each got a new pair of shoes, some fringe, lace, &c.

   Rather stormy in the morning, but clear in the afternoon.  Kate Lott's 
   wedding day.  All of Uncle Aaron's folks, Addie Bergen, Charlie Henry & C. F. 
   came here & staid all night.  Pa, Ma, Grandma, Annie & I went to the wedding 
   & had a very nice time.  I danced nearly every set, with different ones; J. 
   Bergen, A. Bergen, Whit. Powell, Jerry Lott, Ed. Weeden, Charlie Lott, Mr. 
   Rowe.  Arrived at home 2 o'clock.  2 1/2 o'clock.

   Clear & cold.  All of the New Utrecht folks went home in the morning.  Jerry 
   & Mollie Spedding came here in the afternoon & staid to supper.  Uncle Abe

   Clear & good sleighing.  About 2 o'clock in the afternoon Abe Wyckoff came 
   here in his sleigh & we took a ride to Hempstead.  Stopped at Lane's, had our 
   supper.  Annie went with Johnnie Suydam & Charlie D. took Phebe VanSiclen.  
   We all went together, had a very nice time.  I saw Dolly White & Annie 
   Wyckoff & Charlie & George Vanderwater at Lane's.  Frank Lott & Mart. 
   VanSiclen came here for us to go sleigh-riding, but we were gone.  We got 
   home 10 o'clock.  Johnnie went home 10 1/2 o'clock & Abe went 12 1/2 o'clock.

   here in the evening.  We fixed our Christmas tree.  Santa Claus brought Jimmy

   Christmas Day.  A Merry Christmas to all.  I received a pocket-book for my 
   Christmas & a lamp mat from Sarah & various other trivial articles.  Pa, Ma, 
   Annie & I went to Oakley Ketcham's in the evening to a sort of a reception.

   Clear, but dreadful walking.  Sarah & I walked over to A. Anna's in the 
   morning, I went to Sunday School to help fix the Christmas Tree.  We all 
   staid to A. Anna's to dinner.  Grandpa, Lib. Kolyer, & Annie & Kate Matthews 
   were there.  We had the Tree in the afternoon & had a very nice time.  Annie
