Notes for Elisha ROSS

Data from Pearl Ross's records. Pearl told Mary Helen Emery that there was
a record that hung on the living room wall in the Elisha Ross home, Pearl
copied it in 1970 and at that time it belonged to Vivian Ross Shaw. Pearl's
FGS also says that some data was from a book written my Nancy
Workman,"History of Martyrs" Elisha was a farmer and a teacher and was one of
the first settlers in Jefferson Township.
The Workmans and the Rosses married brothers and sisters or cousins. Elisha,
William and Christina Ross married Workmans.
Thirteen children were born to Elisha and Dorcas, their oldest children were
twins and their youngest also were twins. Two of their children married
Workmans and three married Rices.
In the 1880 census Elisha and Dorcas are in Brown Township, Knox County, Ohio
with Soloman, Elisha J., and Ira A. In the household is Viola Probasco, age
17 "being raised as their own"; born in Ohio, place of birth of parents
unknown.
