Notes for Joseph DUNKLIN

Information from "South Carolinians in the Revolution" and LDS film #0022794,
ittem 18: Joseph Dunklin, Revolutionary War soldier. It states he lived in
Orangeberg District, St. Matthews Parish, Four Hole Swamp, an area now owned
by the National Audubon Society and the National Consevancy. He was Inquirer
and Tax Collector.
His will dated May 7, 1776 probated January 1, 1784 in Charleston, S.C. failed
to designate the names of his children. His wife, Jean Dunklin and Joseph D.
Dunklin were executors.
The film refers to a history of the Dunklin Family by Ethel Hastings Scruggs
Dunklin, (Mrs. W.W. Dunklin) of 15 E. 11th St., NY,NY. the LDS film # 0889249
is listed as the Scruggs Genealogy including Dunklin, Dunklin Publishing Co.
Joseph was born in County Colraine, Ireland, left from London . On the same
ship was Jean Warthen (Wathen, Waten) from Wales. They met on board and
married upon reaching Charleston, the exact date is unknown.
