Notes for John THOMPSON
Information from the History of Clinton County, 1881, page 922.
Will datd 6-12-1824 is copied in LDS film 0911369, Will records vol. 2, Perry
County., Ohio (Books A and B). Date of death not confirmed. Will witnesses
were William Spencer and Robert Spencer and the executors were Wm. Spencer
and Wm Forsythe.
John's will: "In the name of God, Amen, I, John Thompson Senier of Hopewell
Township, Perry County and State of Ohio, considering the uncertainty of this
mortal life and the certainty of death, being of sound mind and memory
blessed by almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last will
and testament--hereby revoking all others by me made in manner and form
following.----
First, I will that all my just debts and funeral be paid out of any money
that may be at hand after my decease.
Second, I bequeath to my beloved wife Nancy all my estate real and personal
during her natural life.
Third, after her decease I bequeath to John Thompson, Junior my third heir,
the land on which he now lives. It being the northwest quarter of section
eight of Township fifteen range fifteen in the Ranesville land office
district and to Isaac Thompson my youngest son the land on which I now live
it being the south east quarter of section thirty five of Township seventeen
range sixteen in the Chillicothe land office district. Also to John Thompson
Jr. I bequeath lots No 104-85-103 and 102 in the town of Somerset, Perry
County and State of Ohio together with all the improvements thereon.
Fourth I bequeath to Samuel Thompson,William Thompson, Ann Fickle and Jane
McBride each one dollar to be paid out of my estate property or any money
that may be n hand after my decease. I appoint and constitute William Spencer
and William Forseyth sole executors of this my last will and testament hereby
revoking all others by me made.
Witness whereof I have herunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of June
one thousand eight hundred and twenty four.

Note: the biographies of sons William and Samuel state they were born in
County Tyrone, Ireland while the bio of their sister, Ann, states she was
born in County Antrim and came to Philadelphia at the age of eleven after
which the family settled in Perry County, Ohio.
Ceneteries of Perry County: Hopewell Baptist Church: John Thompson died May
1855, age 84.
