- Jug Tavern of Sparta, Inc. Jug Tavern of Sparta, Inc., which owns the "Jug Tavern" (a.k.a.
Garrison House, ca. 1760). http://www.jugtavern.org/ Sparta is an historic neighborhood at the Southern end of Ossining. From the site: "Sparta is the oldest surviving settlement in the Town of Ossining, which includes the Village of Ossining (formerly Sing Sing) and part of the Village of Briarcliff Manor, along the east bank of the Hudson River in Westchester County, New York. Sparta's independent existence ended in 1906 when the Village of Ossining extended its borders southward to encompass Sparta." (My ancestor Jacob Romaine and his older brother George W. Romaine lived on
Upper Spring Street, in the area linking Sparta with downtown Sing Sing.)

- Hudson River Museum. The Hudson
River Museum, in Yonkers.http://www.hrm.org. Includes area art, history and
science. Its active borrowing and exhibitions program expands exhibitions
beyond the Museum's own holdings.
