Inventory of Sarah Ruffin,
wife of Sheriff Samuel.
January 10, 1781

State of North Carolina in pursuance of order of Edgecombe County. Court November 1780. We the subscribers having met and divided the estate of Sarah and Gray Ruffin, Dec'd, as followeth (to wit).

One/half of the estate of Sarah Ruffin to Lamon (to wit) three negroes Bob, Peter & Mill, 12 head of cattle, 9 head of sheep, the other half together with the estate of Gray Ruffin as followeth (to wit) Etheldred Ruffin 1 negro girl Phillis, 1 feather bed and furniture and 3 knives and forks, 6 head cattle and 3 sheep and to pay each claiment (pounds)263...13...6?or9. To Lamon Ruffin negro woman Lucy, he to pay to Catherine, Mary, Nancy, & Betty Sheppard (pounds)13...0...0 and to Arch Lamon in right of his wife Olive (pounds)650, 1 sorrel filly, 3 head sheep, 6 head cattle, 1 butter pott, 1 saddle, 3 books, 1 feather bed and furniture, he to pay to each claiment ?671. To Thomas Pridgeon in right of his wife Martha 2 negroes, Abram & Mourning, he to pay to Catherine, Mary, & Betty Sheppard (pounds)1950, 6 head cattle, 3 head sheep, 1 chaffing dish, 1 rose blanket, he to pay to each claiment (pounds)62...3...8. To Jesse (?) Deloach in right o his wife Penelope, 1 negro named Jeffrey, 6 head cattle, 3 head sheep, 1 rose blanket, he to pay Eth Ruffin (pounds)650, he pay each claiment (pound)55...11 to Catherine, Mary, Nancy, & Betty Sheppard, 1 negro boy Young, 6 head cattle, 3 head sheep. To Archibald Lamon in right of his wife, Olive 2 negroes, Isabel & Joe, 6 head cattle, 3 head sheep, & 1 sorrel mare, he to pay each claiment (pounds)1108...6...2, given under our hand this 10th Day of January 1781.
