Enlisted in New Hanover County at age 30, March 3, 1862 for the war. Present or accounted for through August 1864.


PRIDGEN, THOMAS J., Sergeant
Transferred from Company C, 5th Regiment Texas Infantry February 16, 1863. Mustered in as Private and appointed Sergeant in 1864. Present or accounted for through August 1864. Wounded and captured at Fort Fisher January 15, 1865 and confined at Elmira, NY until released after taking Oath of Allegiance June 16, 1865.


PRIDGEN, WILLIAM LAFAYETTE, Private
Resided in New Hanover County where he enlisted at age 20, May 15, 1862 for the war. Present or accounted for through August 1864. Captured at Fort Fisher January 15, 1865 and confined at Elmira, NY until released after taking Oath of Allegiance June 16, 1865.


PRIDGEN, BRYANT, Private
Born in Moore County and resided in Robeson County where he was by occupation a laborer prior to enlisting in Robeson County at age 44, March 10, 1862. Present or accounted for through October 1862. Reported sick in hospital at Wilmington in November-December, 1862. Hospitalized at Wilmington on February 16, 1863, with continued fever. Returned to duty on March 20, 1863. Hospitalized at Wilmington prior to May 1, 1863. No further records.


PRIDGEN, JOHN HENRY, Private
Resided in Cumberland County where he enlisted at age 19, May 29, 1861 for the war. Deserted November 7, 1862, and returned August 20, 1863. Captured at Payne's Farm, Virginia, November 28, 1863, and confined at Old Capitol Prison, Washington, DC, until released after taking the Oath of Allegiance on March 19, 1864. Sent to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Enlisted in Suplin County, March 25, 1863, for the war. Present or accounted for until transferred to Company C, 67th Regiment NC Troops on January 18, 1864.

Born in Greene County and resided as a student in Lenoir County where he enlisted at age 17, October 16, 1861 for twelve months. Discharged April 3, 1863 by reason of "having served full term of his enlistment", Re-enlisted in Brunswick County July 23, 1863 for the war. Present or accounted for until tranferred to 3rd Company G, 40th Regiment NC Troops (3rd Regiment NC Artillery) November 4, 1863.

Transferred from 1st Company I, 36th Regiment NC Troops (2nd Regiment NC Artillery) November 4, 1863. Died at Fort Johnson, Brunswick County, January 29, 1864 of disease.

Captured at Fort Fisher January 15, 1865 and confined at Elmira, NY until released after taking Oath of Allegiance June 12, 1865.

Resided in Greene County where he enlisted at age 23, April 23, 1861, for the war. Mustered in as Private. Wounded at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 2, 1863 and captured in hospital at Gettysburg on July 4, 1863. Confined at DeCamp General Hospital, David's Island, NY Harbour, until paroled and exchanged at City Point, Virginia, August 28, 1863. Appointed Corporal, January-May 1864. Captured at Spotsylvania County Court House, Virginia, May 12, 1864, and confined at Point Lookout, Maryland until transferred to Elmira, NY, August 10, 1864. Remained at Elmira until paroled on February 20, 1865, and sent to James River, Virginia, for exchange.


PRIDGEN, ALONZO, Corporal
Born in New Hanover County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting on the lower Black River at age 25, May 17, 1861. Mustered in as Corporal. Present or accounted for until wounded at Hanover Court House, Virginia, May 27, 1862. Died on or about August 28, 1862 of wounds. Place of death not reported.


PRIDGEN, BRADLEY F., Private
Born in New Hanover County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting on the lower Black River at age 26, May 17, 1861. Present or accounted for until killed at Hanover Court House, Virginia, May 27, 1862.


PRIDGEN, CHARLES J., Private
Born in New Hanover County and resided in New Hanover or Pender Counties where he was by occupation a blacksmith prior to enlisting at Camp Wyatt at age 28, September 10, 1861. Present or accounted for until woulnded at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 3, 1863. Returned to duty in September, 1863 - February 1864, and was present or accounted for until captured at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia, May 12, 1864. Confined at point Lookout, Maryland, until transferred to Elmira, NY, August 3, 1864. Released at Elmira on June 12, 1865, after taking the Oath of Allegiance.


PRIDGEN, COLUMBUS VAN BUREN, Private
Born in New Hanover County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting on the lower Black River at age 23, May 17, 1861. Present or accounted for until he was wounded accidentally on July 27, 1862. Reported absent wounded until retired to the Invalid Corps on April 15, 1864.


PRIDGEN, HINTON H., Private
Born in New Hanover County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting at Camp Wyatt at age 21, August 15, 1861. Present or accounted for until wounded in the shoulder and leg and captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 3, 1863. Hospitalized at Gettysburg where he died on July 15, 1863, of wounds.

Enlisted at Camp Holmes on October 23, 1864 for the war. Present or accounted for through February, 1865.


PRIDGEN, JAMES F., Corporal
Born in New Hanover County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting at Camp Wyatt at age 20, August 15, 1861. Mustered in as Private. Present or accounted for until wounded at Frayser's Farm, Virginia June 30, 1862. Returned to duty in January-February, 1863, and was wounded at Chancellorsville, Virginia, May 3, 1863. Returned to duty in September, 1863-February, 1864. Promoted to Corporal in January-February, 1865. Present or accounted for through February, 1865.


PRIDGEN, ALEXANDER, Private
Resided in Nash County where he enlisted at age 30, September 10, 1861. Present or accounted for until he deserted on November 15, 1862.


PRIDGEN, DREWRY, Private
Resided in Nash County where he enlisted at age 27, May 1, 1862, for the war. Present or accounted for until wounded in the arm at Kelly's Ford, Virginia, on or about November 7, 1863. Arm amputated. Retured to the Invalid Corps on April 16, 1864.


PRIDGEN, HENRY H., Private
Resided in Nash County and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting at age 29, May 1, 1862, for the war. Present or accounted for until captured at Kelly's Ford, Virginia, November 7, 1863. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, November 11, 1863. Released on January 30, 1864, after taking the Oath of Allegiance and joining the US Army.


PRIDGEN, HARDY H., Private
Born in Nash County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Nash County on May 1, 1861. Present or accounted for until discharged on or about August 1, 1862 by reason of being over age. Discharge certificate gives his age at 36. Reenlisted in the company on March 10, 1863. Wounded in the hip at Chancellorsville, Virginia, May 3, 1863, and died at Richmond, Virginia, May 14, 1863, of wounds.


PRIDGEN, WILLIAM R., Private
Born in Nash County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Nash County at age 34, May 1, 1861. Present or accounted for until discharged at Gordonsville, Virginia, on or about August 1, 1862, by reason of being over age. Later served in 2nd Company H, 32nd Regiment NC Troops.

Previously served as Private in 1st Company H, 12th Regiment NC Troops (2nd Regiment, NC Volunteers). Enlisted in this company in Wake County on March 1, 1863, for the war. Present or accounted for until captured at or near Burkeville, Virginia, April 6, 1865. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, April 15, 1865. Released on June 16, 1865 after taking the Oath of Allegiance.


PRIDGEN, DORSEY, Private
Resided in Nash County and enlisted at age 19, September 1, 1863, for the war. Present or accounted for through December, 1863. No further records.


PRIDGEN, MATTHEW WASHINGTON, 1st Lieutenant
Resided in Bladen County and elected 2nd Lieutenant March 20, 1862 for the war. Appointed to rank from that date. Promoted to 1st Lieutenant December 15, 1862. Present or accounted for through August 1864. Captured at Fort Fisher, January 15, 1865 and confined at Fort Columbus, NY Harbor, until paroled and exchanged at Boulware's Wharf, James River, Va., March 5, 1865. Admitted to hospital at Richmond, Virginia, March 6, 1865 and furloughed for thirty days the next day.


PRIDGEN, JAMES L., Corporal
Born in Bladen County where he resided as a farmer and enlisted at age 23, July 4, 1861 for the war. Mustered in as Private and appointed Corporal on January 31, 1862. Present or accounted for until killed on September 17, 1862, at Sharpsburg, Maryland.


PRIDGEN, JOSIAH J., Private
Resided in Nash County where he enlisted at age 25, May 1, 1862, for the war. Present or accounted for until captured at Kelly's Ford, Virginia, November 7, 1863. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, November 11, 1863. Died at Point Lookout on November 26, 1863. Cause of death not reported.
