Mrs. Mattie Replogle Sparks
In 1954 when Clinton Dean Replogle, son of Willis C. & Ruth (Handwerk) Replogle , he was in training at Camp Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Clinton's wife Barbara (Endsley) Replogle was living nearby.
They brought me a newspaper clipping about the 15th annual Mother's Day reunion of the Replogle family which was held May 9th 1954 in the Armory building at Cherokee.
The occassion, honoring Mrs. Mattie Replogle Sparks, a long time resident of Alfalfa Co., who homesteaded near the present site of the Great Salt plains Dam.
Mrs. Sparks, age 81 lives at 508 E. 2nd St., is the mother of ten children, 43 grandchildren and 87 great grandchildren.
Her living children are Wiley of Enid, Claudia George, Blanche Clark and Gene all of Perryton Texas, and Walter of Canadian Texas.
154 were present coming from a distance represented were Jackson, Tenn. San Dernardino, Calif., Hayes, Pratt, Cheney, Wellington, Hutchinson and Liberal, Kans. Ponco City, Proctor and Shawnee, Okla., Perryton, Canadian & Dallas Texas.
