87. William J.4 Kimler (Caleb3, John2, John1) was born Nov 10, 1838 in near Bloomington, McLean Co, IL, and died Jan 06, 1893 in McLean Co, IL. He married Mary Ellen Hoover Apr 02, 1867 in McLean Co, IL, daughter of Joel Hoover and Nancy Houser. She was born Feb 13, 1839 in Clermont Co, OH, and died Jan 28, 1911 in McLean Co, IL.

Notes for William J. Kimler:
In "Biographical Album of McLean County, IL, 1887", it says that William was 10 years old when his father died. He lived for 2 years with his maternal grandparents. He then lived with his uncle John L. Orendorff. He taught one term of school and then enlisted. He served until the end of the war in the Valley of the Mississippi, mostly doing garrison duty. Upon his return, he lived with his uncle until his marriage. William then moved to West Township, section 2, township 21. After 5 years, he traded his farm for another in section 35. He raised grain and stock. He was West Township clerk for several years, and served as Supervisor for 3 years. He was a school trustee and treasurer.

1850 census, Bloomington, McLean Co, IL: Kimbler, Wiliam. J., 11 years, M, living in household of William, age 59, and John L. Orendorff, age 25. (my NOTE: It appears this family took in several orphaned children.)
