After the Civil War, Mr. Arbuckle moved to Cecil County from Manayunk, PA and purchased this gentleman's farm. Mr. Arbuckle resided on the farm until his death in 1891. He had accumulated many Cecil County businesses which enhanced the growth of Elkton, MD.

The 144 acre estate was then sold in 1917 to the Bacchus Family. Mr. Bacchus, Sr served on the board of Directors of Hercules, Inc. White Hall was a winter home for him and his family. His sons, living in other structures, transformed White Hall into a working dairy farm. This dairy farm, one of the largest in Cecil County, was sold in 1960 and divided into smaller parcels of land. The remaining buildings are privately owned.

This early 18th Century brick structure (made from the ballast of an English ship) was enlarged to a Federal Home in the mid 19th Century. The present owners have renovated and restored White Hall to it's present state.

You can relax and enjoy the landscape as you wander through the gardens dating back to the Arbuckles. This borders the Fair Hill Natural Resource Area, a 5,600 former estate of William Du Pont, Jr, featuring some of the most beautiful woodlands and rolling hills Cecil County has to offer. Fair Hill Natural Resource Area is also world known for the equestrian shows, trail rides, dirt bike trails, walking trails, fishing and, of course, the movie set of Oprah Winfrey's movie, "Beloved."
