Death of S.B. Dixon by Suicide

S.B. Dixon, a farmer, aged 42 years, died at his home in the westeern part of Jackson Township, Sunday afternoon ( Mar. 20, 1910 ) between 1 and 2 o'clock, from the effects of strychnine poison. From the fact that his domestic relations were not pleasant, and inquest was deemed advisable, and Coroner Chas. H. Brown, of Fair Play , and Prosecuting Attorney G.C. Burnside, of Bolivar, went to the house Monday and took the evidence, which pointed clearly to suicide.

The evidence was the affect that his wife had returned the day before after an absence of a week from the home. On Sunday about noon, the evidence was, Mr. Dixon took a bath and shave and went into the bedroom and closed the door. In a little while he called his wife and told her he had taken poison and for her to telephone some of the neighbors and call a physician, which she did. Several neighbors arrieved at the home before he died, but he was dead when the physician arrived.

The evidence was that on several occasions he had talked af taking his life. The Jury, after hearing the evidence, returned a verdict to the effect that deceased came to his death from strychnine poison administered by hands unknown to the jury. An empty vial of strychnine and an open knife were found in the bed where he died. Deceased leaves a wife and four children.
