Samuel Brownlow Dixon was my great-grandfather. He was born in McMinn County, Tennessee, November 05, 1864, one of 10 children. He moved with his parents Franklin "Frank" Alexander Dixon (1833-1907) and Elizabeth Ann Studdard (1833-1908) to Missouri prior to 1870 when they show up on the Polk Twp, Dade County, Missouri.

S. B. Dixon  married Martha Jane "Mattie" McDaniel in September of 1893. Mattie was born April 03, 1873, the daughter of Thomas Benton McDaniel (1850-1914) and Amanda Epperson of Polk County, Missouri. Samuel Brownlow and Mattie had four children: Maude Verlie Dixon, born June 08, 1895; Lucy Pearl Dixon, born April 18, 1897; Clarence Arvil Dixon , (my grandfather), born February 01, 1899; Travis Claude Dixon, born November 01, 1901.

Brownlow's grandson (my father) told me that he worked on the King Ranch in Polk Co., MO. Brownlow died March 20, 1910 in Aldrich, Dade Co., MO. After the death of Brownlow, Mattie moved to Christian County, Missouri with her children, she died November 29, 1957 in Springfield, Missouri.

Brownlow and "Mattie" are buried side by side at the Pleasant Ridge Cemeter, Polk County, Missouri.
