The First Three Generations of Our Dickson/Dixon Family
in North Carolina and Tennessee

From the information we have so far, we believe (without documented proof) that our common ancestor William Dickson/Dixon (1796-1865) was the son of Joseph and Sarah (Moore) Dickson. Here is a chronology  of events related to William Dickson/Dixon (1796-1865), and his (presumed) parents and grandparents.

• Joseph Dickson Jr. born 1773 to Gen. Joseph Dickson and Margaret (McEwan) Dickson in Rowan Co., NC.

  1. 1793 to Sarah Moore (1775-1808) in Lincoln Co., NC, they had the following children, all were born in Chatham Co., NC; (after their mother's 1808 death, the children reportedly lived with their grandparents Gen. Joseph Dickson and Margaret (McEwan) Dickson in Rutherford Co., TN)
