Edmund (Edward) Neville-Westmoreland
was the 7th Earl of Westmorland and the last Neville as an Earl of
Westmorland.
He was appointed by King James I, as the 7th Earl of Westmorland, when
his cousin Charles Neville, 6th Earl of Westmorland died on Nov 16,
1601
in Flanders. Edmund fled England with his mistress, Francelliana
Townsend in 1612 where he later died in 1630 in Flanders, following
almost
identical footsteps of his cousin, Charles Neville, the 6th Earl of
Westmorland.
The Earldom of Westmorland passed from the Neville Family at this time to the Fane Family. This happened when Mary Neville, the daughter of Henry Neville (the 5th Earl of Westmorland) married Thomas Fane in 1574. To this union was born a son, Francis Fane in 1575. Francis Fane married Mary Mildmay. On Dec. 29, 1624, the "Earldom of Westmorland" passed from the Neville Family to the Fane Family when Francis Fane was appointed as the 1st (Fane) Earl of Westmorland by King James I. Mary Neville Fane died June 28, 1626.

married and had a son named John. His son, Thomas, remained in
