Some Descendants of George Fuller Harris FIRST GENERATION 1. George Fuller HARRIS Sr.[1,2] died on 10 Mar 1826 in Lincoln Co., KY. He was a minor in 1760 when his father died in York County, VA.  George Fuller Harris, Sr. has been established as a patriot in the Revolutionary War, by Anne Vestal-Miller. National No. 692511A659.     He died about 1834 in Henry Co., VA.  He was married to Cintha LANSFORD (daughter of 
Henry LANSFORD II and Elizabeth EDWARDS )  on 14 Oct 1793 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. Marriage 
Bond was made by Peter M. Harris and his father, Geo.Fuller Harris. Marriage listed in book:

Harris signed her marriage bond, recorded in Pittsylvania Co.,VA. Her father, Geo.F.Harris, wrote 
and sent a note granting his permission for her to marry. Thomas STEGALL was born about 1778 
in Pittsylvania Co., VA.

5. Mary I HARRIS was born about 1780 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. She was married to Jeremiah 
McDANIEL on 26 Mar 1803 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. Jeremiah McDANIEL was born about 1780 
in Pittsylvania Co., VA [probably].

THIRD GENERATION
9. Elizabeth Edwards HARRIS was born on 1 Dec 1794 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. She was married to 
Benjamin DODD on 22 Mar 1825 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. Peter M. Harris, Elizabeth's father, was 
a bondsman when she married.

10. Henry Manning HARRIS was born in 1801 in Henry or Pittsylvania Co., VA.3  He died on 
12 Jan 1877 in Henry Co., VA.4 Cause of death was heart disease. He was buried in Ridgeway, 
Henry Co., VA. 

Further Research Needed: 
    Henry Harris, lived in Rockingham County, NC in 1850 Fed. Census, Household No. 165/165. 
He was also living there in 1830, 1843, 1840, when his name appeared on the Deed Book. Living 
beside him was Benjamin F[ranklin] Harris, born 1796 in NC, and wife, Jane W. was born 1801 in 
VA. J.E. and S.J. Haller, both born in VA, were living with the couple. These two Harris families were 
almost certainly related but more research is needed to establish their kinship. The name: Franklin 
is given to children in several following generations. Also living in Rockingham Co., NC were; Richard Harris and family; Timothy Harris and family; Kinnon Harris and family.
[Note: One of Rev. Samuel Harris's son was named Benjamin, [see Deed & Will Book 11, Page 222, 
probated 16 Dec.1799] but it is not known if this was the same man who lived beside Henry M. Harris.]

      Henry was married to Elizabeth S. BISHOP (daughter of Landon J. BISHOP and Mary HAISLIP 
II ) on 8 Oct 1829 in Henry Co., VA. Marriage bond was made by Henry Harris and Clifton G. Haizlip. 
Clifton was Elizabeth Bishop Harris's half-brother. Landon J. Bishop wrote and sent a note giving 
permission for his daughter to marry. 
      Elizabeth S. BISHOP was born on 20 Dec 1809 in Henry or Franklin Co., VA.5 Elizabeth Bishop 
is listed in the 1880 Fed. Census of Henry County, VA, Ridgeway, Household #1109/1135. In a 
Deed, 3 Mar 1895, Courthouse, Henry Co.,VA, Elizabeth's Middle initial is given as S. [In the 19th 
century, there was no custom to make a woman's initial as the first letter of her maiden name.] She 
died in Henry Co., VA.6 Henry Manning HARRIS and Elizabeth S. BISHOP had the following known

              of Rockingham Co., NC. Not listed in any of the Henry Co.,VA censuses. May have died 
              young, more research is needed to confirm or correct this. Henry Manning Harris, wife,
              Elizabeth Bishop harris and children were living in Henry Co.,VA , Household No. 115/115,
              when 1860 Fed. Census was taken.
     21 iii. America HARRIS was born in 1833 in Rockingham Co., NC [probably]. No listing for a 
              daughter, America, in 1850 Fed.Census of Rockingham Co., NC. She died on 12 Aug 1877
              in Henry Co., VA.

     23 v. Henry HARRIS Jr. was born in 1837 in Rockingham Co., NC. He died on 13 Sep 1864 in 
               Elmira, NY in Confederate POW camp.. Henry Harris, Jr. is buried in grave 263, 
               Confederate Soldier's Graveyard. He served in Co.A, 42nd VA Reg. He was 23 in 1860 
               Federal Census, and enlisted on 8 June 1861 with his four brothers. He was captured at 
               Spotsylvania Courthouse, and sent to POW camp at Point Lookout, Md, and then to POW 
               camp at Elmira, NY where he died on pneumonia. His grave is Number 226.

                  Chancellorsville 3 May 1863 and died of his wounds 18 May 1863.

11. Polly S. HARRIS was born on 20 Oct 1802 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. She died in Jun 1870 in 
Henry Co., VA. She was married to Clifton HAISLIP Sr. (son of Mary HAISLIP II ) on 20 Nov 1821
in Pittsylvania Co., VA. Peter M. Harris, Polly's father, was a bondsman when she married. She and 
Clifton were married Rev. Richard B. Beck. Clifton HAISLIP Sr. was born on 17 Apr 1802 in Franklin

54 years at time of death in 3 Sept. 1871. He died on 3 Sep 1871 in Henry Co., VA.8 Daniel Jones, 
son of Wilson Jones, died at age 54 in Henry County, VA of rheumatism. His wife, Cinthia Jones

FOURTH GENERATION
22. Noah Franklin HARRIS was born in 1837 in Rockingham Co., NC. 1880 Fed.Census of Henry 
Co.,VA. No. 334/346. He was 23 in 1860, and described as 6 feet tall with fair complexion, blue 
eyes and dark hair. He enlisted with his brothers at Ridgeway, VA on 8 June 1861, all Harris 
brothers were living at home in Irisburg District. He was captured at Spotsylvania Courthouse, and 
sent to POW Camps at Point Lookout, MD and then to Elmira NY. He was released from Elmira, NY
on 11 July 1865.
     He was married to Lydia Ann HAIZLIP (daughter of Clifton HAISLIP Sr. and Polly S. HARRIS ) 
on 21 Sep 1860 in Henry Co., VA. 
      Lydia Ann HAIZLIP was born about 1835 in Henry Co., VA [probably]. She died about 1919 
in Henry Co., VA. Noah Franklin HARRIS and Lydia Ann HAIZLIP had the following children:

24. George Washington HARRIS was born in 1838 in Rockingham Co., NC. List as 12 in the 1850 
Fed. Census. He died in Henry Co., VA. He enlisted on 8 June 1861 with his four brothers at 
Ridgeway, VA. He was present in 39 battles during the Civil War, and was captured and sent to POW 
camp at Point Lookout, MD, where he was released 13 May 1865. Application for Virginia State
Pension; Minute Book 13, Page 63; July Term 1884, Courthouse, Henry County, VA. Geo. 
Washington Harris served in Company "A", 42nd VA Regt. and was wounded in the right elbow joint 
on the 3rd day of May 1863 at the Battle of Chancellorsville. Later, he was wounded in the left hip by
a piece of bonb shell at the Battle of Fisher's Hill in April 1864. In the 1870 Federal Census, his 
family was living in Henry Co.,VA, Household No. 333/334. He was married to Martha A. WADE 
on 18 Dec 1866 in Henry Co., VA. 
     Martha A. WADE was born about 1846 in Henry Co., VA. George Washington HARRIS and 
Martha A. WADE had the following known children:
       64 i. John H. HARRIS was born about 1866 in Henry Co., VA.
       65 ii. James W. HARRIS was born about 1868 in Henry Co., VA.

25. Andrew Jackson HARRIS was born in 1840 in Henry Co., VA. The last known and recorded date
when A.J.Harris was alive, was 26 July 1919, when he and his wife signed a Deed of Gift, granting 
land to their son, J.Raymond Harris in exchange for caring for them for the rest of their lives. He died 
about 1926 in Henry Co., VA.9 He was buried about 1920 in Ridgeway, Henry Co., VA. A.J. 
Harris's home was a log house, located just north of the present site of his son, Luther Harris's farm 
house in Ridgeway, VA on Route 637. "Jack" Harris was a good soldier and a sergeant in 42nd Va 
Infantry, Company A., Confederate State of America. He was wounded in the heel during the Battle 
of Antietam and permanently disabled. He was 6 feet tall with dark hair, fair complexion and hazel
eyes.  Pension is recorded in Minute Book 13, page 63; July Term 1884; Courthouse, Henry County, 
VA. His grave stone in old Friendship Cemetery was broken when a tree fell across it, after being struck
by lightening during a severe summer thunder storm. The date of his exact death was carved on it, and 
was thereby destroyed. T.J. Cox told Anne Vestal-Miller circa 1985 that he remembered the storm 
and the event.  He was married to Talitha Jane HEFFLEFINGER (daughter of Jacob HEFFLEFINGER 
Jr. and Parthena GILLEY ) on 5 Feb 1875 in Henry Co., VA. A.J. Harris was listed as age 30. 
However, more reliable sources like 1850 Fed. Census gives his birth as 1840. He was about 35 when
married. 
     Talitha Jane HEFFLEFINGER was born about 1857 in Henry Co., VA. She was buried in 1923 in 
Friendship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Ridgeway, VA. She died on 4 Feb 1923 in Henry Co., 
VA.10 Death Certificate No.4679, Bureau of Vital Statistics, Richmond, VA. Talitha's age was given
as 68 years, making her birth ca. 1855. Cause of death was stomach cancer. Her mother was listed as 
Parthenia Gilley.  Andrew Jackson HARRIS and Talitha Jane HEFFLEFINGER had the following 
children:
