Captain Joseph O'Banion Pedigo

Photo from "Pictorial History of Boone County."  Caption above reads:   "WINTER QUARTERS at City Port, Va in 1864 found Capt. Joseph O. Pedigo serving as head of Company D. 29th Regiment U.S. Colored Troops.  Pedigo (believed to be on left) was commissioned April 20, 1864, the regiment mustered out on November 8, 1865. Pedigo returned to Lebanon after the war and engaged in the practice of law and was mayor 1892-1896.  He died May 9, 1902.  He was the father of the late Cora O. Byrum, public librarian for many years."


Captain Joseph O'Banion Pedigo (pictured) b. 26 Dec. 1835, Barren County, KY on his father's farm. Married 5 April 1860, Mary E. Darnall, daughter of Zenos and Agnes (Bridges) Darnall.

Their only child, Cora O. Pedigo [#136-169-1], married Frank P. Byrum, a druggist in Lebanon, Boone County, Indiana.
