"DRIBBLE - NON-DRIBBLE"

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I do not know why I get elected to perform some task, but guess that is the reason I am still alive and kicking!!!!

As you were just notified, William Bettencourt, has asked to be remove from our email address book. William is not the first one to do so. Also, we have others that have expressed the receiving of to much dribble is a real pain and wish that it could be reduced.

I can certainly understand their concerns when their mail box is jammed with "junk mail". On the other hand I can appreciate the enjoyment that some of us get from exchanging jokes and just dribbling on various subjects. When one has been playing around with personal computers as long as I have (since 1982) there are not many jokes that I have not received 10-15 times. I receive well over 100 emails each day and could
not function if I tried to read all the jokes, etc. It does not bother me at all, I have developed an efficient use of the delete button.

With all of this said, I proposed that we develop, for the lack of a better name, a 58B dribble email list. This list would contain the names of all of our Classmates that want to receive and participate in all of the action... Dribble and Pure Dribble (Don't ask me difference.. Save that question for Gordon Brymer when he returns to the action.) All
Classmates would be included on the more serious emails.

I am not trying to dictate who you send email to, only providing information that I have received and offering a possible solution. Therefore, if you think this is a satisfactory solution we will try and establish the dribble and non dribble line of communication within 58B.

Those that agree, please advise which list you would like to be placed on: DRIBBLE or NON DRIBBLE.

I trust everyone will appreciate what we attempting to accomplish.

Thanks

Ollie

Dear Ollie. By all means, please include me on the Dribble,
pure dribble, and unadulterated dribble lists. Jim Haynes

Ollie

You say things so well and diplomatically. I arrive at my office at 6:30AM
just to take the time to read the "dribble" and get my update for the day as
well as some good laughs and encouragement from guys like Gordon. I love it!
Put me on the dribble list.

Regarding the picture of Bob Fields. He looks too young to attend our
reunion. He must be living the good life in NY.

Ollie;

As Secretary of our local chapter of a renowned Military Retireee
Fraternity having an e-mail roster of 55 folks, I have encountered the same
situation, and have created two lists as well.....based on the same
complaint. Have labled my lists as HR (humor receptive) and HNR
(Humor non-receptive)....only have 5 HNRs.......These want "official" mail
only; some of which I find extremely funny, but I send it to them anyway.

I wish you well in trying to please all of the people all of the time.
If anyone can do it, Ollie, YOU CAN!!! I'm sorry you're bearing the brunt
of the "overload effect" of some of our more frivolous offerings. My delete
button works, so please leave us on the Dribble List.

I hope Billy Bett #1 enjoys the quiet.

Regards,

Jim and Lane Colvig

Ollie,
Thanks for your accurate and powerful insight consideration.
Please place my name to the Non-Dribble List. If I have a
Dribble message to pass on, I pass it on by name to my
select classmate.
Many thanks,
Rod Keng

Ollie, I to have learned how to use the delete button, therefore I elect to
remain on the dribble, (is that something like basket ball?). I have noticed
only two people from 1st Sqdn got involved in dribble and Russ signed off.
I fear the remainder have lost some of the joy of life. frank.

Ollie,

I don't have a lot of time to spend on my computer so don't participate much
in the "dribble". I do enjoy most of what I receive, so keep me on the
dribble list.

Dribble is O.K. In fact I sent you some yesterday, e.g. question about the
Ramp. However, think some messages are being sent to all which should be
targeted to specific addressees. This would cut down on the overall volume.

PLEASE REMOVE MY E-mail address "[email protected]" from your address book.
I have been receiving twenty or more e-mails every day regarding reunions,
songs etc. and I am really not interested in hearing about them.

As per earlier e-mail this AM. please remove my e-mail address from your
address book. Twenty or more various e-mails a day regarding reunion etc. is
just way too much.

Ollie,
I know I don't participate often but I do read everything I get. True, sometimes it is a lot but I see no harm in it. I am anticipating another relocation this coming fall and do not believe I will be able to attend the reunion. If it turns out that I can, I may show up unannounced. For
the person who wants to know how everyone is, my health is excellent. Since a mild heart attack back in '89, I have had no serious problems.
Wish everyone else could be as lucky.

Please put me on both lists. I assume you'll publish the "dribble" list.
Thanks.

Dear Ollie-
Include me on the dribble list. Not so busy that I can't go through the
list once a day to see whats happening. Like you, am starting to get a
lot of joke repeats - but neophyte that I am, I have figured out the
delete button. You get stuck with this kind of job because you're the expert (at least
in my opinion).
Best, John

Hi Ollie and all,
My preference is for NON DRIBBLE. However, I do not want to miss out on
any general conversations regarding 58B or our classmates.

Hi Ollie

Since I enjoy the dribble trivia, participate in it, contribute to it, keep them coming. Perhaps an asterick could be added so we can differentiate one from the other, or a title such as "Little known facts", of which all of us have been subject to during our days at the mess hall.

Hey Goomba

Paisano,

Now you know why I became an officer...Ha!!!

What did you think of my input about the "Dribble". I recall vivedly sitting at the head of the "First Class" table, hungrier than
hell, and knowing I had been asked to join in conversation with my first class heroes, trying to come up with little know facts.

I blew them away one such day by laying on this "Little known fact": Did you know that hadn't the English Navy defeated the
Spanish Armada, that the culture and tradition of this great nation of ours would be Spanish instead of English???

Jaws dropped. Eating utensils placed quietly on the table. Napkins raised in unison, all wiping dribble from their mouths. The
thought among my mentors that this event could have resulted in eating Taco's, refried beans and Jalapeno peppers, instead
of roast beef and mashed potatoes, brought total silence.

Then one of the first class members said, " Only a dago, frustrated that this Italian guy, Columbus, didn't sail for Italy instead
of Spain. Then we would all be eating spaghetti and meatballs". "Or Pizza", another interjected.

That's the only time I had seen laughter during a meal among first class leaders. Consequently, I got very little to eat the next
two months as I was called upon to sit at the head of the table passing out "Little know facts" to our ignorant first class. Ha!!!
....True story, and I have a few more to pass on at our reunion.

Can't wait to hear "The rest of the Storys"...I sure agree with you and Ollie....I think a lot of the classmates still working and
leading busy lives just can't get around to all this stuff....sure can't blame them...I have a lit of what I call "Core" OCS and
these are the ones I dribble with ....you are def. on the list...and so is anyone else who participates in the sessions....all others
I communicate with on the more business level....figured it would get to this since we are such a diverse group....No
problems here...keep the dribble coming!!!! By the way, the Hispanics are rapidly becoming a majority....you like red beans
and rice? Maybe we ought to team up on account I sure love all Italian Food!!!
