The following message received from Jack today:

How do update and/or correct my bio?

My son is a Navy vet. He served aboard the Enterprise and worked on the flight deck. He has a hundred stories to tell, some hilarious, some tragic. I hope he doesn't wait until he is nearly 71 to get it all written down. He is also a pilot and he and I both have a love of aviation and airplanes. In this vain I sent him a rather bland treatise on what I considered the most beautiful airplanes ever to fly. His reply literally blew me over.

Here it is:

There are all kinds of good looking, neat, cool, etc., airplanes.

Check out some thoughts of mine:

1- The best looking airplane, ever: any bird bringing mail from home.

2- The worst: any plane carrying bodies.

3- The most memorable: the plane you soloed in.

4- The 2nd most memorable: The 1st P-51 you ever saw, flying or not.

5- Memorable moments at the airport:

First flight.

First gear-up landing you ever saw.

Peanuts in a bottle of red NEHI, while sitting in some retired colonel's Navion, looking out of the cockpit, and fantasy flying through a cloud of Playboy pinups.

The first time you went to the airport, preflighted, flew, landed, put her away, logged your flight, and still, there was nobody at the airport. A true solo.

I have tons of this kind of tripe. Jackie
