Subject: Closing The Book....

Hand Salute...

Hi Ollie....Jim.

I hope you and your families are doing okay.

From time to time I re-visit some of my "Military" files, including OCS Class 58-B.

Today I prematurely "dumped" the file I had on Robert C Brown. So, I did some more nosing around at the Ancestry.com website.

As regards Robert C Brown of Hannibal, MO. I was two years ago that a couple of St Louis area listings were checked to no avail. In addition, I think someone  told me that his middle name was "Connie".  Also I think that I may have been advised that his wife's name was Shirley.

Today while searching the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) listings at Ancestry.com, I found two Missouri connections.

1Robert C. Brown; SSN: 494-32-2580...issued in Missouri before 1951; Born: 10 May 1933; Died: 26 Apr 1991.

2) Robert C. Brown; SSN: 494-34-7550..issued in Missouri before 1951; Born 31 Dec 1933; Died 15 May 1997;

Last Residence: 77387  Spring, Montgomery, Texas.

I also checked the Ancestry.com/Obituary Collection. This link offered a potential lead.....

I found the full text here....

I've editted the obituary slightly....

Following up, I searched a database for which I pay a quarterly subscription fee.

I called the above number. During the course of our conversation, Shirley told me that her husband died in May 1991 of colon cancer…in Biloxi. She acknowledged that he was in OCS-58B….and asked about the Sheffields, Robert Fields, and  especially John and Joyce Rulon. I told her what I saw on your website. including the fact that John Rulon was deceased.

I did some more SSDI searching and found the data on John. Via MyFamily I also located  his widow Joyce in Oklahoma City. I re-called Shirley Brown and provided her with Joyce's number.

And this, KIND SIRS, is the last chapter in my OCS-58B notebook.
