According to his military records, Americus was 6 feet tall, fair complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, and was by occupation a farmer. He enlisted on Feb. 1, 1862 at Goshen, (?).

I, 6th Iowa Infantry between 1861 and 1862.134 He died during the Battle of Shiloh on 6 April 1862 at the age of 31 in Shiloh, Hardin, Tennessee.1027 He was killed in the Battle of Shioh, Civil War. Christopher was buried at National Cemetery in Shiloh, Hardin, Tennessee.134
