IA] She was living with her grandparents, Samuel G. and Lydia Beede. She died on 30 December 1935 at the age of 74 in Grand Prarie Township, Nobles, Minnesota.1923 Etta was buried on 2 January 1936 at Grand Prairie Cemetery in Grand Prarie Township, Nobles, Minnesota.1923 Her obituary was published on 2 January 1936 in the The Ellsworth News in Ellsworth, Nobles, Minnesota. THE ELLSWORTH NEWS, Ellsworth, Nobles Co., MN Thursday,January 2, 1936 - Front Page Headline Mrs. J. P. Campbell Dies Ellsworth lost another of its old settlers this week when Mrs. J. P. Campbell, a resident of Grand Prairie township since the late 70's died at her home in north Ellsworth about six o'clock Monday evening. She had not been very well all winter but was able to be about the house until early in December when she was stricken with paralysis as she was busy preparing breakfast. From that time she grew steadily weaker and death was to her a release from misery and woe. Her husband and three children were with her most of the past two weeks, for it was known that she would not recover and her children were sent for. Everything that love and care could do for her was showered upon her during those last few weeks, but long wishing for her Master's call, she answered it gladly and went to her reward. The funeral took place this (Thursday) afternoon from the Congregational church at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Carl P. Bast conducting the services, and interment was in Grand Prairie cemeterybeside her four children already buried there. Her maiden name was Henrietta R. T. Mann, and she was born Nov. 7, 1862, in Allamakee county, near Lansing, Iowa. In 1872 she moved with her parents, Nelson B. and Sarah Mann, to Sibley, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to James P. Campbell on Nov. 27th, 1878, and came at once to live on the Campbell farm two miles east of town now occupied by the Bert Francis family. A few years prior to their marriage Mr. Campbell had come here from Dodge county, Minn., and had homesteaded. Here the pair settled and by hard work and deprivations in the years of drouth, of the near-famine resulting from successive years of the grasshoppper scourge and through blizzards - all of which are history of this section - they managed to acquire some 240 acres of Grand Prairie township land. For years she and her husband were prominent factors in the township. To them were born seven children, three of which grew to manhood and womanhood. One dughter, Nellie, lived to be 11 years old and the others, Cora, Willie and Pearl, died in infancy. Those who with the husband survive are Mrs. Nate (Alma) Marr, of Kanaranzi township; George, of Grain Valley, Mo., and James, of Independence, Mo. All were with her when she died and mourn the passing of a most devoted wife and mother. Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Deceased attended the public schools of Lansing and Sibley, Ia., during her childhood. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints and the Degree of Honor. Deceased was an unusual woman - always in a pleasant mood, whether piled with hard work or worries, whether ill or well she never had anything but a pleasant welcome for all comers. She made friends easily and kept them through a life time. She was a most devoted wife and mother who made home for her loved ones a happy place. Morever she was a good neighbor and gave generously to those in need. In comparatively recent years the hand of fate has been very hard on this fine old couple, for in trying to help others their own stability had slipped and left them shorn of most of the fruits of their many years of labor and saving. For always they worked hard and looked forward to the years when they might enjoy retirement from cares and labors. They gave up farming in 1927 and except for two winters spent with their sons in Arizona, they have lived since then in Ellsworth, and enjoyed at least the happy reflections of life well spent. Deceased suffered much in the past few years and often expressed the wish that she might be called by God out of this vale of trials and her prayer has been answered. The blow falls hardest upon her loving companion of many years and life for him without her will be a void that can never be filled. THE NEWS extends its sympathy to the sorrowing widower and to the children. She was a good woman and her memory will long remain with those who know her. Pallbearers at the services were Chas. A. Barnes, A. J. Faragher, Martin Nelson, Martin Brommer, Elmer Egan and John Larkin. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Nate Marr and daughter Dorothy, of Kanaranzi township; Mr. and Mrs. George F. Campbell, Grain Valley, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Campbell, M. S. Campbell, Mrs. Geo. E. Campbell, all of Miller, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Marr, Holland, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Ole Helling, of Pipestone; Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Beede, Pipestone, Minn.; Mrs. L. W.
