Seventh Generation1787. Major Theophilus SANBORN78,509,510 was born on 24 September 1753 in Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire. He was born on 24 October 1753 in Kensington, Rockingham, New Hampshire. He died on 4 March 1839 at the age of 85 in Bristol, Grafton, New Hampshire. Before he married he came to Bristol and built a log cabin just above the present residence of Mrs. J.W. Sanborn, on the east side of the highway on north slope of New Chester mountain. In the spring of 1779, he brought his young wife here and such household goods as could be brought on a pack horse. They occupied the cabin for some years, when a two-story frame house took its place. He was the first shoemaker and tanner in the town and had his tan pits near his house. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary army, being a sergeant in Capt. Page's company, and served in Rhode Island in Sept. 1777. He was also a member of Capt. Moses Leavitt's company and Col. Moses Nichol's regiment in expedition to Rhode Island, Aug. 1778. Another account says he was a drum-major. He died between the 9th and 10th hr. in the A. M. in the family home of his son Daniel, in Bristol. There could be more than 12 children in this family. He died a Methodist and a Democrat. [NOTE OF RECORD: in the bible of Theophilus an earthquake of great magnatude in 1755 and (Dark Day) 19th May 1780.] He was married by Rev. Joseph Cotton, settled minister of said Sandown, NH; however, no record of the marriage is found. Major Theophilus SANBORN and Mary SLEEPER of Kingston were married in May 1779 in Sandown, Rockingham, New Hampshire.78 Mary SLEEPER of Kingston78, daughter of David SLEEPER and Margaret SCRIBNER, was born on 22 September 1758.78 She died on 2 May 1845 at the age of 86 in Bristol, Grafton, New Hampshire.78 She died a Methodist and Democrat.
