Samuel G. Beede, one of the old settlers of this section, passed away Sunday evening at five o'clock at the home of J. P. Campbell where he has made his home the past eight years . The cause of his death was old age, he being 89 years old had he lived until April 27th. He was born in the State of Maine, April 27, 1810. In 1855 he came west to Waukon, Iowa, where he resided for a number of years. The year 1872 found him among the first few settlers at Sibley, Iowa, and in 1884 he moved to Ellsworth. His wife passed away about 8 years ago and since then he has made his home with his grand daughter, Mrs. J. P. Campbell. Three sons are left to mourn their father's death . They are John Beede of Waukon, Iowa, Moses Beede of Iroquois, S. D. and Samuel Beede of this place. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the Congregational church and the services were conducted by Rev. Upton of Kanaranzi. The remains were laid to rest in Grand Prairie cemetery west of town. The family have the sympathy of the community. His obituary was published in the Ellsworth News in Ellsworth, Ellsworth, Kansas. SAMUEL BEEDE 1891.
