MONOGAHELA, Pa. — Richard J. Trexel passed away March 12, 2012, in Pass Christian, Miss.

Mr. Trexel was born July 17, 1931. He was a dearly loved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many.

He achieved a high school diploma from Rostraver High School of Pennsylvania in 1949 prior to achieving a Bachelor of Science at SMU Dartmouth.

Following 20 years service in the Air Force, he worked in the U.S. Postal Service for several years prior to retirement, while raising five children.

After retirement, Mr. Trexel and his wife, Esther Mae Button Trexel, travelled across the United States and through much of Australia before settling in Pass Christian, Miss.

Mr. Trexel is survived by a sister, Caroline Evans of Pennsylvania, along with five children: Cheryl Braz of Bourne, Richard Trexel of Monroe, N.H., Linda Riek of Sydney, Australia, Terri Frazier of Pass Christian, Miss., and June Trexel of Sagamore Beach; and 12 grandchildren: Janelle Frazier of Buzzards Bay, Jennifer Davis of Sydney, Australia, Jennifer Trexel of Wareham, Leanne Kent of Sydney, Australia, Matthew Riek of Sydney, Australia, Richard Trexel of South Carolina, Charles Trexel of Lancaster, Pa., Summer Rose Frazier of East Wareham, Cheryl Mitchell of Sagamore Beach, Brittany Turner of Sagamore Beach, Destinee Roderick of Sagamore Beach, and Steven Roderick of Sagamore Beach; and seven great-grandchildren.

A small private family service will be held in celebration of his life.

Mrs. Trexel was born Oct. 6, 1937. She was a dearly loved wife, sister, mother and grandmother, and friend to many.

She achieved a high school diploma from Owego High School of New York in 1953, prior to graduating from Walter Reed Army Hospital as a medical specialist in 1957.

Following a brief service in the Army, she worked as a waitress and in the U.S. Postal Service where she completed 17 years of service before retirement, while raising five children.

After retirement, Mrs. Trexel and her husband, Richard J. Trexel, traveled across all of the United States and through much of Australia before settling in Pass Christian, MS.

Mrs. Trexel is survived by her husband, Richard J. Trexel, to whom she was married for 53 years.

She is also survived by siblings Jean Travers of Pennsylvania, James Button of Endicott, NY, and June Packer of Endicott, NY; along with five children: Cheryl Braz of Bourne, Richard Trexel of Monroe, NH, Linda Riek of Sydney, Australia, Terri Frazier of Pass Christian, MS, and June Trexel of Falmouth; and 12 grandchildren: Janelle Frazier of Buzzards Bay, Jennifer Davis of Sydney, Australia, Jennifer Trexel Ferrara of Hyannis, Leanne Kent of Sydney, Australia, Matthew Riek of Sydney, Australia, Richard Trexel of St. Johnsbury, VT, Charles Trexel of Pennsylvania, Summer Rose Frazier of East Wareham, Cheryl Mitchell of Falmouth, Brittany Turner of Falmouth, Destinee Roderick of Falmouth, and Steven Roderick of Falmouth; and seven great-grandchildren.

A small private family service was held in celebration of her life.
