Alfred James Lammay Jr., 82, of Eighty Four, went to be with his Lord and savior Tuesday, March 13, 2012. He was born January 25, 1930, in Charleroi, son of the late Alfred J. Sr. and Melissa Young Lammay. In his youth, he took pride in delivering the Charleroi Mail and the Sun-Telegraph in his hometown. Mr. Lammay was a 1948 graduate of Charleroi High School. For more than 28 years, he was a truck driver for Super Value, formerly Fox Grocery, until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of Teamsters Local 872, serving in the capacity of shop steward for his fellow drivers for several years. Mr. Lammay was an avid reader. He was a member of Garwood Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He taught junior high, senior high and adult Sunday school classes for many years. On September 4, 1957, he married Georgianna Bozich, who survives. Mr. Lammay was a faithful and loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, George Thomas Lammay (Sheryl) of Scenery Hill; a daughter, Kathleen Lammay Franks of Ellsworth; three grandchildren who brought many smiles to his life, Matthew Thomas Lammay, Nicholas James Lammay and Beth Ann Lammay, all of Scenery Hill; a sister, Della Mae Lammay of Charleroi; a brother, Wesley Lammay of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are an infant son, James Vincent Lammay, and a son-in-law, Robert Franks. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, with Pastor Cliff Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Scenery Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Child Evangelism Outreach, 1654 Park Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, or Garwood Baptist Church, 637 Scenic Drive, Daisytown, PA 15427.
