Lynn Emery Orndorff, age 66, of Ohiopyle, Pa., entered peacefully into Heaven's Gates after a courageous battle against Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome with his family by his side as he made his peaceful journey on Thursday, June 26, 2008. He was born March 1, 1942, in Confluence, Pa., the son of Elwood Orndorff and Margaret "Peg" Schaefer Orndorff. He attended Penn State University and was employed with Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel Division until his retirement in 1996. He was then employed partime by PTI Transport in Connellsville. He loved politics, gardening, following the stock market and spending time with his family and friends. Lynn was predeceased by his father, Elwood Orndorff, his beloved wife, Barbara Bryner Orndorff, a brother, Stanley Ross Orndorff and a niece Denise Orndorff. Surviving in addition to to his mother of Ohiopyle, are his children; a son, Tim F. Orndorff and wife Janie of Scottdale; daughter Cindy L. Steyer and husband Jeff of Ohiopyle; grandchildren; Joshua Orndorff, Jennifer & Matthew Steyer; step-grandchildren Dawn Firestone; three brothers Richard Orndorff of Tallahassee, Ray Orndorff of Mill Run, Charles Orndorff of Greensburg; and special friend Sarann Grover of Ohiopyle. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home with the Rev. Father E. George Saletrick officiating. Barbara Jane Bryner Orndorff, 65, of Ohiopyle entered into the gates of heaven on Sunday, June 26, 2006, while hospitalized at Uniontown Hospital. She was born on July 23, 1940 at Chalk Hill, a daughter of Earl Bryner and Mary Thompson Bryner. Barbara was retired from Presley Ridge Wilderness School, where she was head cook for many years. Planting flowers and working in her garden were some of her favorite pastimes. Her greatest joy was to spend time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Frances Bryner and a sister Madlyn Fike. Barbara is survived by her husband, Lynn Orndorff, with whom she celebrated 44 years of marriage on June 2, 2006; a son, Tim F. Orndorff and wife Janie of Scottdale; a daughter, Cindy Orndorff Steyer and husband Jeffery of Ohiopyle; grandchildren Josh Orndorff, Jennifer and Matthew Steyer; step-grandchild Dawn Garlick; two sisters, Lula Miller and Patricia Atkinson; brother Gerald Bryner, all of Chalk Hill.
