Edward died on 9 August 2004 at the age of 81 in Cheyenne, Laramie, Wyoming.455 He was buried at Pine Bluffs Cemetery in Pine Bluffs, Laramie, Wyoming.455

Edward T. Ward, 81, of Cheyenne died Aug. 9 at Cheyenne Health Care Center.

He was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Galeton, Colo., and had lived here for more than 50 years.

Mr. Ward served in the Army during World War II in the 99th Infantry in the Battle of the Bulge. Through "The Checkerboard," he learned that the Bronze Star medal was awarded to those who had received the Combat Infantry badge or the Combat Medical badge. Company D was attached to the Second Battalion of the 395th and had relieved C Company Medics at the aid station during the Battle of the Bulge. They then moved Company D to Jalhay, eventually serving during the Cologne Plain, Remagen Bridge, Ruhr Picket and such. After the war, they were in occupation duty near Schweinfurt, Germany. He was then transferred to the 2nd Division and returned to the States.

Mr. Ward was a security guard at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Masonic Lodge 32 degree, Shriners, lifetime member of American Legion Post 6 and was one of the founders of the Forty & Eight organization for the American Legion.

Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Verna Ward of Cheyenne, whom he married Sept. 1, 1959; a son, Charles Edward Ward of Cheyenne; three daughters, Verna Marlene Marlowe of Cheyenne, Jacqueline Ann Huckins of Sturgis, S.D., and Lois Louise Head of Cartersville, Ga.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Urey and Fern Ward; and a sister, Maxine Edmunds; and a great nephew, Jonn Edmunds.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Robin Chance officiating.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. Interment of his urn will be in Pine Bluffs Cemetery.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.
