He appeared in the census on 13 September 1850 in Miller Township, Dearborn, Indiana.493 Age 75, blacksmith, born New Hampshire. It appears that he was living in the household of a Daniel Vaughn, 25, blacksmith, born Indiana; his wife Caroline, 20, born Indiana; and their son Joel F., 1 month, born Indiana. Also living in the household was a James Lowe, 17, blacksmith, born Indiana. The reason that it "appears" that he was living in this household is because the family above was enumerated on 12 Sep 1850 and were listed on page 4 of this location and Jonathan was enumerated on 13 Sep 1850 and was listed on page 5 without an address or a "family number". This may not mean anything but it certainly is curious. It is currently unknown if Jonathan was related to anyone in this household. More research is needed. Another possibility is that the Jonathan in this census is not the same Jonathan who was married to Esther RUSSELL about 1800. He was a blacksmith. One of my sources claims that Jonathan died in 1820 at Lawrenceburg, Dearborn, Indiana, but I suspect that they were confusing him with his father. However, it's also possible that the Jonathan found in the 1850 census was a different person. More research is needed. Jonathan PHILBROOK and Esther RUSSELL of Conway were married about 1800.672 Esther RUSSELL of Conway, daughter of Thomas RUSSELL, died in Conway, Carroll, New Hampshire. She was born in New Hampshire.673 Jonathan PHILBROOK-6896 and Esther RUSSELL of Conway-6906 had the following children:
