Dorothy Webb, 92, of Malaga, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009.

She was a longtime resident of Malaga. She had worked in the family pear and apple orchard; in the family store, Union Safeway on South Wenatchee Avenue; and at Allen Furniture, retiring in 1977.

Survivors include her longtime companion, Bob Newton.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Wenatchee First Assembly of God Church, 1520 McKittrick St. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jones & Jones-Betts Funeral Home in Wenatchee.

Dorothy Webb, 92, of Malaga, was born to James and Ruth Carmody on December 27, 1916, in Sargent, NE. She passed away February 21, 2009, at her home. She and her family, including her three brothers, Kenneth, Sterling and Monroe, moved to the Wenatchee Valley in June, 1927. In 1934, the family moved to Joe Miller Road in Malaga. Dorothy was married to Lovell Webb at the family home on November 17, 1935, and moved just up the road, where she lived for the rest of her life. She spent many years either working in their pear and apple orchard or in the family store, The Union Safeway on South Wenatchee Avenue. Dorothy began working at Allen Furniture in 1952, and continued this job until she retired in 1977. She was an excellent sales person with a desire to please her customers. Dorothy enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Lake Chelan with her family and friends. She was especially close to her mother, and took care of her father following her mother's death. She was a member of Eastern Star, the Stemilt Grange and was on the board of Children's Home Society. She attended different churches over the years and had a deep faith and generous heart.

In her later years, she was very appreciative of the companionship and care given her by her friend, Bob Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lovell; and her three brothers, Kenneth, Sterling and Monroe. She is survived by her cousin, Jim and Dorothy Carmody of Ellensburg, WA; her sister-in-law, Gertrude Scroggie; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Hospice, Dr. Long and her caregivers for their excellent care.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m. at Wenatchee First Assembly of God Church on McKittrick Street.
