Roger William Carmody, 78, of Gravette, Ark., died Thursday (July 24, 2008) in Bella Vista, Ark. He was born on Feb. 13, 1930, in Rock Falls, to John and Josephine Carmody.
He married Mabel Teepe Hines on Oct. 9, 1954, in Preston, Minn. He was a retired salesman. Mr. Carmody was a member of the Hiwasse 1st Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Joan Schroeder; his parents; four sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mabel Carmody; a son, David Carmody and wife, LauraLynn, of West Union, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Janet Hilsman, of Bella Vista, Ark.; a son-in-law, Dennis Schroeder of Pinedale, Wyo.; one sister, Rosella Mayo, of the Chicago, Ill. area; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2008, at the Hiwasse Baptist Church, Hiwasse, Ark., with Pastor Jim Daniel officiating.

A second memorial service will be held in Orchard, Iowa at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, in Bella Vista, Ark.
