Alfred was born May 19, 1918, near McDonald, Rawlins County, Kan., to Orman A. and Laura McKee Winslow. He graduated from Brewster, Kan., High School in 1936. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served four years, two years in the European Theater. Upon returning home, he went to the University of Kansas in Lawrence and in 1952 earned a degree in pharmacy. Alfred and Vena McCall were married June 20, 1943, in Colby, Kan. After graduation, the families lived in Wichita, Kan., and moved to Loveland in 1956, where he worked at the W&T Drugstore. In 1963, he opened the Winslow Pharmacy in Berthoud and owned and operated the store for 26 years before retiring. Alfred was a member of the Berthoud First Presbyterian Church, the Longs Peak Masonic Lodge No. 197 and a former member of the Lions Club and VFW. He enjoyed his family, spending summer months at the family cabin up the Big Thompson and travel. He especially enjoyed travel in the New England states, where he roamed the old cemeteries checking out the family tree. He is survived by his wife of 63 years; daughters, Bobbi Winslow, San Jose, Calif.; Vicki Spence and husband Bruce, Masonville; Denise deBary and husband John, Searsport, Maine; Kim Winslow and wife Therese, Ossining, N.Y.; and Aaron Winslow, Phoenix, Ariz. Five grandchildren, Michael Cymanski, San Jose, Calif.; Amy Mahoney and husband Chad, San Jose, Calif.; Mark Spence, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Kurt Spence and wife Sandra, Masonville; Jessica Reed and husband Sam, Bailey; Mateo Winslow, Ossining, N.Y.; and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Alfred's life will be held at the Berthoud First Presbyterian Church, Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow at the church.
