Born in 1925 to Edward and Lydia (Bartz) in what was then Norfolk Township, he was very proud to be a Morton native. He went to Morton High School until age 17, when he enlisted in Eisenhower's Army. He served for 2 years and when in Germany was one "hell on wheels' tank driver!

After returning to Morton, he met the love of his life, Beulah Simning, at the dance club "The Rocks." This year marks 62 very memorable years together.

Harold retired in 1984 from the Renville County Highway Department where he was a respected foreman known for his snowplowing and mail box "removal" skills!

Harold and Beulah's second home was in Harlingen, Texas, where they spent the winters for the last 20 years. His golf game really improved there!

He was well-known for his amazing billiards skills and being a fierce cribbage player! Other hobbies he enjoyed were bowling, horseshoes, John Wayne movies, and the "Walker Texas Ranger" TV series! He never missed a Vikings game on TV if he could help it, and could twirl Beulah on the dance floor like no other! In 2008, after 22 years of participating in the Morton Open Golf Tournament, he was finally on the winning team! That was one happy day!

He was very proud of his grandsons and loved his times spent with them in Colorado.

He was a 62-year member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Beulah; children Randy, Nancee (John) Testa, and Ric Lothert; and four grandsons, Tony, Dominic, Nico, and Blake, all living in Colorado.

A quiet, gentle man who will live in our hearts forever. Rest in peace.
