Wilbur, 90, of Constable, died on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003 at Alice Hyde Nursing Home where he had been a patient for three years. His wife of 64 years, Rada Williams Wilbur, survives. They were married in 1939 at Our Lady of Lakes Church in Oquossac, Maine. Carl was born in Lewiston, Maine and lived most of his life in Constable. In his early years, he worked as a chef at the Lake Placid Club and in New York City. He moved to Constable in 1942 and worked at Alcoa Massena for a few years. He later served as Steward for the Malone Lodge of Elks, American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He was last employed by the Franklin County Nursing Home as food service director for 15 years, retiring in 1980. He was a 66-year member of the Knights of Columbus, third degree, and past member of the Malone Lodge of Elks. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assissi Church and had served on the parish council. Carl was especially proud to be one of a small group who founded the Constable Volunteer Fire Department in 1952. He remained an active member for many years. Surviving in addition to his wife, Rada, are two daughters and sons-in-law; Maureen and Ragel Dominic of Phoenix, N.Y. and Theresa and James Vogel of Rochester, N.Y. There are six grandchildren; Christopher Dominic and Craig Dominic of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Colleen Dominic Race of Liverpool, N.Y., Matthew Vogel of Madina, Ohio, Karl Vogel of Mystic, Conn., and Michele Self of Virginia Beach, Va. There are nine great-grandchildren. Carl was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Margaret Wilbur, and four sisters; Ethel Hewes, Anna Haskell, Marjorie Stevens and Collette Jordan. Calling hours are scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at St. Francis of Assissi Church in Constable. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assissi Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, following calling hours. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Carl may be made to St. Francis of Assissi Church and the Constable Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home. Carl O.
