1176. Joel PHILBROOK was born on 14 August 1759 in Vinalhaven, Knox, Maine.

He served in the military during the Revolutionary War in 1777.70 He was a Marine on the Frigate "Boston".

He lived Licking Co., OH in 1812.

Joel died on 15 September 1820 at the age of 61 in Granville, Licking, Ohio.70 He was buried at Gaffield Cemetery in Saint Albans Township, Licking, Ohio.70

Joel PHILBROOK and Mary LEADBETTER were married on 28 April 1778 in Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine.70 [Chapman says Jan 1775]

They had 15 children born mostly in Vinalhaven. During the War of 1812, they removed to Licking County, OH with their 5 younger children.

Mary LEADBETTER, daughter of Increase LEADBETTER and Katherine BABCOCK, was born on 12 December 1761 in Stoughton, Norfolk, Massachusetts.628 [The records of Mickey Baldwin say she was born in Houghton, MA].

She died on 24 September 1850 at the age of 88 in Etna, Lawrence, Ohio.628 [The records of Mickey Baldwin say she died 16 Sep 1829 in St. Albans, OH] She was buried at Gaffield Cemetery in Saint Albans Township, Licking, Ohio.70

John Hancock PHILBROOK629 was born on 12 June 1779 in Vinalhaven, Knox, Maine. He died on 4 November 1809 at the age of 30 in Kingston, Jamaica. He was master of a vessel owned by himself and his father. He married in Norfolk, VA and upon his death at age 30, his widow returned to her friends in Virginia.
