C. Paul Beede, as he preferred to be called, lived in Boardman, then a rural area south of Youngstown. He graduated from Boardman High School and schooled himself in drawing through a mail order course. F. B. Smith Co. on Pyatt St. was the first place he worked, concentrating on battery work. After being let go, he further schooled himself with a set of business encyclopedia and began a auto repair business with Ed Poorman.

The Beede-Poorman & Co. open in 1935 on West Indianola Ave. The business survived until about 1990. Initially, it did all kinds of repair work but specialized in body work and painting. The Youngstown Letter Shop hired him to design advertisements and to cut mimeograph stencils for their clients. His art work often included original cartoons. He was a member of the Four Square Club, of The Independent Garage Owners Association and of the Boardman United Methodist Church where he devoted much time to the Mahoning Valley Boy Scout Troop 46.

He played basketball in high school and enjoyed taking part in the Boardman Firemen Assoc. Plays. He enjoyed humor and in one play, he played a woman. His family and friends benefited from his fun loving but compassionate personality. He believed in the virtue of honesty and trusted people, giving them all the benefit of doubt. He held many positions in his church and taught Sunday School.

Paul was creative and talented. He played banjo and used to play with a band that performed on Lake Erie entertainment boats. He loved to draw cartoons and always had a camera with him. He had a skill at catching "that bass by that stump", casting the lure to the just right spot. Paul took Ruth with him to hunt deer on the French River in Canada where they vacationed every summer. He liked to hike and canoe, also. He had a gift of gab and enjoyed laughing and talking with new found relatives as he travelled. Paul kept notes on all the Beede' and their families that he could find along the way. their interests in visiting family and friends, National Barbershop Quartet Competitions, the National Parks of the West and New England motivated some of their travels.

Caleb Paul BEEDE and Ruth WEAVER were married on 21 April 1921 in Boardman Township, Mahoning, Ohio.3727 They were married at the home of Ruth's parents on Matthew Road. Ruth WEAVER, daughter of Eli Witmer WEAVER and Sarah Ann MELLINGER, was born on 25 September 1902 in Struthers, Mahoning, Ohio.3727 Ruth moved from Struthers to Glenaven Ave. and then to Matthews Rd. while she was still in grade school. She graduated in a class of nine from Boardman High School and worked as secretary at the School Board at the Court House and for the offices of a Youngstown Steel Co. In their first home on West Road, Paul and Ruth enjoyed one electric light that was powered by a battery (Paul worked with auto batteries). Then in their new home, Ruth learned to run the Delco System to recharge a cluster of batteries which powered the lights and radio. A kerosene kitchen stove and water heater, an ice box in the cellar, a wringer washer with a rocking tub (that sent out shocks) and a push reel lawn mower kept her challenged and in shape.

Ruth learned to cook from her mother. She sewed, did a variety of needlework, learned bobbin lacemaking and pieced and quilted several quilts. She also enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading, piano playing and working in ceramics. Ruth moved to Paisley House Oct. 1992 and sold her home in 1993.
