Irma B. (Bosworth) Bucknell, retired owner of a real estate and insurance agency in East St. Louis, died March 27, 2005, at a hospital in Mason City, Iowa. She was 101. A native of East St. Louis, Mrs. Bucknell was born on a farm to Curtis and Irma Jane Bosworth, owners of Bosworth Diary. She graduated from East St. Louis High School in 1922 and attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. While at the university, Mrs. Bucknell met Roger W. Bucknell Sr. of East St. Louis. The couple married in 1925. In the early 1920s, Mrs. Bucknell's husband and his father co-owned S.K. Bucknell and Son Real Estates and Insurance Co., in East St. Louis. Over the years, the name of the real estate and insurance company changed to Bucknells Inc. With the death of her husband in 1950, she took over ownership and operated the company until it was sold in 1968. In retirement, Mrs. Bucknell sold Avon products for several years and moved to Mason City in 1994. Mrs. Bucknell was a longtime member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Belleville, Excelsior Club and the PEO Sisterhood-Chapter EY. Among survivors are a son, Roger W. Bucknell Jr. of Belleville; a daughter, Nancy Kuehn of Mason City; a brother, Robert W. Bosworth of Lexington, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was Saturday at First United Presbyterian Church in Belleville. Her body was donated to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
