"Jacky" PHILBROOK and Charles O. RUSSELL were married on 22 June 1949 in Maine. Charles O. RUSSELL3442, son of Wallace RUSSELL and Laura DUMONT, was born on 5 May 1926 in Derby, Piscataquis, Maine. He died on 30 October 2009 at the age of 83 in Milo, Piscataquis, Maine. His obituary was published on 2 November 2009 in the Bangor Daily News in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine. MILO - Charles O. Russell, 83, husband of the late Jacqueline (Philbrook) Russell, passed away Oct. 30, 2009, with his family around him at his home. He was born May 5, 1926, in Derby, the son of Wallace and Laura (Dumont) Russell. Charlie was a graduate of Milo High School and Bliss Electrical School, Washington, D.C. A U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II, he participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Charlie owned and operated a propane gas business in the Milo area for many years. He was a member of J.P. Chaisson American Legion Post No. 41, Milo, for more than 60 years and a former member of Milo Lions Club. Charlie was an active member of St. Francis Xavier and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Milo. He maintained a very strong faith that he would be reunited in heaven with those who had previously passed away. Charlie lost his loving wife of 57 years, Jacky, in September 2006. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by two sons, Wallace and his wife, Nancy, of Brownville and Mark and his wife, Diane, of Hampden. Charlie has four grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Jill Russell-Morey and her husband, Ben, of Windham, Kerri Russell-Wiles and her husband, Brian, of Brownville, Megan Russell and her fiance, Justin Dean, of Bangor and Justin Russell of Bangor. Charlie had a special place in his heart for his great-granddaughters, Carly Jean and Nealie Jacqueline Morey of Windham and Lucy Rae and Eve Jacqueline Wiles of Brownville. He is also survived by his sister, Constance (Russell) Carey and her husband, Galen, of Milo; and his brother, Richard and his wife, Patricia, also of Milo. He will be missed by his special canine companion, Lizzie. Charlie will be missed by many friends, but especially a very special friend, Cedric Hamlin of Milo. Charlie and Jacky owned a camp at Norway Point on Schoodic Lake, Lakeview, for many years, where many memories were made for his family. Charlie was predeceased by his mother and father; sisters, Lucille Pinnette, Pearl Poole, Mildred "Bill" Ray and Eva Cobb; and brothers, James "Barney" Russell and Roy Russell. He was also predeceased by two sons, Tennyson and Scott; two daughters, Esther Russell Mannisto and Lisa Russell; and his granddaughter, Starr Ann Mannisto. He felt a deep sense of loss with the passing of his mother and father, brothers and sisters, and his children. The family thanks the staff at the Maine Veterans' Home, Bangor, for their wonderful care so that Charlie could come home. In addition the family thanks caretakers, Elaine Landry and Linda Beard for their care when Charlie came home from the Veterans' Home. A memorial Mass will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at St. Francis Xavier and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Milo, with Father Mark Nolette officiating.
