PHILBRICK JOHN ALDEN, III age 82 was gathered peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009. Born in New York, New York, and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut, his family moved to the Philadelphia area in the mid 1940s where he married and raised his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Marion (Pinkie) Frances (nee Broadbent), and is survived by his four children, Ann Matthews, John Alden IV, Joseph Broadbent and Charles Lincoln and eight grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his polite manner, gentle leadership and good natured humor. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Dec. 11 at 2:00 P.M. at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, Bryn Mawr, PA. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Friends of the Free Library of Philadelphia designated for expanding the collection in the Philbrick Lending Library addressed to 1901 Vine St., Phila., PA 19103.

A native of Shaker Heights, OH she married and moved to Bryn Mawr, PA where she lived and raised a family for 55 years. She is survived by her husband John Alden, III and her 4 children, Ann Mathews, John Alden, IV, Joseph Broadbent, Charles Lincoln and 8 grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her warm considerate manner, her forthright honesty and good natured wit. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 P.M. on Tues., Aug. 11 at Beaumont at Bryn Mawr, 601 North Ithan Ave., Bryn Mawr, PA.
