"Cy"Philbrook, 84, of 114 Blueberry Lane, died Friday at the St. Francis Home. He was born in Laconia, the son of Percy and Marjorie (Osgood) Philbrook. He was a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region. He graduated from Laconia High School in 1937 and attended Kimball Union in 1938 and 1939 and Bryant Straten in 1940 and 1941. Philbrook served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and was in the European Theatre. He worked at Scott & Williams and later worked at Aavid Thermalloy, LLC, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Scott & Williams. He was a longtime member of the Laconia Congregational Church, where he belonged to the Diaconate and the Friendship Club. He was also a Mason. Philbrook was a volunteer at Lakes Region General Hospital and Lakes Region Community Health and Hospice. He was a volunteer at the St. Francis Home from 1986 to 1995 and received the Volunteer of the Year award in 1995. Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Smith) Philbrook of Laconia, two sons, Peter Philbrook and Scott Philbrook, both of Martinsville, Va., a daughter, Nancy Holland of Nags Head, N.C.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces. His first wife, Lillias (Watson) Philbrook, died in 1979. Calling hours and funeral services will not be held. Burial will be held in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Lillias Watson Philbrook Nursing Scholarship, c/o the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation, P.O.
