Born in Cambridge, he was the son of Ethel (Duffy) Campbell of Florida and the late Angus R. Campbell. Raised in Wellesley, Mr. Campbell was a decorated Army veteran of the Korean War. He served with Company A, 160th Infantry Regiment and was honorably discharged as a corporal having earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Korean Service Medal and two Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal with two overseas bars. Mr. Campbell worked as a shop foreman for American Durafilm in Newton for more than 25 years. He was also employed locally at Old Colony Foam Pack, as a station manager for Auto Brite in Framingham and in food service at the former General Motors plant. He was a longtime member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing and boating at a family camp in Hillsboro, N.H. He leaves six children, Charles D. Campbell of Framingham, Alan M. Campbell of Hopkinton, Colleen D. Campbell of Holliston, Brian D. Campbell of Uxbridge, Maureen E. Campbell of Framingham and Kathleen M. Campbell of Medford; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four brothers, Richard Campbell of Texas, Roland Campbell of Athol, Joseph Campbell of Virginia and William Campbell of Florida; two sisters, Frances Pelletier of Boylston and Nancy Campbell of Florida; his former wife, Evelyn (Philbrick) Campbell; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Thomas Campbell. A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, May 29, at St. Jeremiah’s Church, 41 Brook St., Framingham. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
