“Gardner” is from RI VRs, Deaths, and could be incorrect. May be Gardiner, given that her grandson is Alfred Gardiner Holden. Nevertheless, Gardner, Gardiner, Trescott, etc, may be clues to Mary Burlingame's parents. The North Kingstown old records have serious water damage. Many dates can not be read.

Christopher HOLDEN660,1110, son of Stephen HOLDEN and Roby/Robie COLLINS, was born on 22 April 1815 in Natick Village, West Warwick, Kent, Rhode Island.1111 He died on 6 March 1888 at the age of 72 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island.1111 He was buried on 11 March 1888 at Pocasset Cemetery in Cranston, Providence, Rhode Island.1111

He was Sheriff of Providence County, Rhode Island, from the mid 1860s thru 1887. He was a descendant of founders of Warwick and Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

Grocery business taken over by his sons, Christopher Lucius and Alfred, dba C. L. Holden & Co.. Alfred left that partnership and Christopher L. took on his brother-in-Law, Emery Thurber as partner, dba Thurbers. The business was sold around 1898 and C. L. went into new pursuits, incl. politics. Name of store prior to 1864 not yet known. The relocation, by Christopher Holden in 1853, was the first move of this line of Holdens out of Warwick, where they had lived since 1648.
