Georgianna Julia (Philbrook) Luba, 83, of Nashua, New Hampshire died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua. Mrs. Luba was born in Amherst, New Hampshire on August 14, 1925, a daughter of the late Charles G. and Frances "Fannie" L. (Jordan) Philbrook. She was educated in Amherst, Milford, and Nashua, New Hampshire. Mrs. Luba had been a resident of Nashua since 1938, and previously lived in Milford, New Hampshire. She was the widow of Stanley W. "Streaky" Luba who died August 23, 1992. Through the years, she knitted in the mills during World War II and worked at Nashua Paper Box, Beebe Rubber and Doehla's Greeting Cards. She was a lifetime member of Ladies Auxillary, Disabled American Veterans. Mrs. Luba loved knitting, reading, enjoyed summer vacations on Cape Cod and Pittsburg, New Hampshire. Mrs. Luba also had an affection for animals, especially Tubby, Schmoo, Butterscotch, and her cat Socks. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by eight brothers, Norman Philbrook, Chester Philbrook, Llewelyn Philbrook, Charles Philbrook, Melvin Philbrook, Arthur Philbrook, Donald Philbrook, and Richard Philbrook; three sisters, Marian Philbrook, Rubie Corson, and Nellie Stone; and a daughter, Karen Jean Luba who died on May 9, 1956. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Abate and her husband Louis of Nashua; a granddaughter, Allison Gibson and her husband Stephen of Manchester; a great-grandchild expected in August 2009; two stepsons, David Luba and his wife Linda of Merrimack and Michael Luba and his wife Wendy of Antrim; numerous step-grandchildren. She cared for two children from birth thru grammar school, Lydia and Christopher Foley; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Philbrook of Plainville, MA and Elizabeth Philbrook of Nashua. SERVICES: Visiting Hours will be held at Davis Funeral Home, One Lock Street, Nashua on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held at Davis Funeral Home, Nashua on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. Friends are invited to attend.
