Knowles was that Mamie's marriage to William M. Schiller was annulled within about ten days. We quote from a 1987 letter from Leonie Knowles Moses regarding the second marriage of Mamie Knowles: "I have added another marriage for Aunt Mamie. Don't know if you want to include it or not and I really have little information as to dates, etc. It was a bigamous marriage on his part but the truth did not come out until around the time World War I ended. I don't know how he got away with it as I believe he was in the service and their "marriage" lasted several years. I have been told that he was what appeared to be a wonderful man, a perfect husband and the love of her life. She married Jesse Whitcraft but it turned out that his name was Overholt and what his first name was evades me. There was no inkling of anything being amiss until they visited in Effingham perhaps for just a weekend and when it was time to return to Indianapolis there was room on the train for only one of them so he told her to go ahead and wait for him in the station in Indianapolis and he'd take the next train and meet her there. Well, she waited a long time because he never did show. I don't know how she found out the truth but there is a divorce of record in Effingham which probably gives more info on the subject." It was the impression of George E. Knowles that the February 26, 1929, marriage to Frank A. Doyle was also very short. | 14970 | ii. | Ivar Alvin KNOWLES125 was born on 21 January 1895 in Effingham, Effingham, Illinois.125 He died on 8 February 1976 at the age of 81 in Effingham, Effingham, Illinois.125 He was buried on 11 February 1976 in Oak Ridge, Effingham, Illinois.125 From a newspaper article Tuesday March 24, 1970: Ivar was born in the house at 511 N Merchant Street in Effingham, Illinois.
