Sixth Generation608. Captain Samuel PHILBRICK399 was born on 25 September 1734 in Greenland, Rockingham, New Hampshire. [another source says 25 Sep 1737 in Epping. There is no baptism recorded in Greenland for him.] He was a cordwainer and lived in Epping, Nottingham and Raymond. He was one of the first settlers of Raymond, NH, and at the first town meeting on 29 May 1764 he, along with Stephen THURSTON, Joseph SMITH, Curtis BEAN, and Daniel SCRIBNER, was appointed "haward" [?}. At the meeting in 1765 he was appointed a "Tithen" man; 1766, surveyor of lumber; 1767, "haward" again; and in 1768 surveyor of Highways. He is mentioned in the 1769 minutes, but the entry was too faint to read. That is the last time he appears in the Town Meeting minutes. He also lived in Chichester in 1777, when his daughter Sarah was married, and Pittsfield, where he was in 1790. Captain Samuel PHILBRICK and Sarah were married about 1757.
