Drown, 72, formerly of Windham and Gorham, died May 29, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Center Conway, N.H., on July 7, 1929, the son of Parker and Amy Philbrook Drown. He worked for 30 years as a supervisor at the Ellis Paperboard in Portland, and later pursued his passion for building and remodeling as a contractor in the area. For several years he drove Meals on Wheels, much to the delight of his elderly clientele. He loved skiing, gardening and finding adventures on old winding roads.
He will be remembered fondly as a loving father, generous and supportive husband, and a true friend to many and will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly Verrill Drown of Jay; two daughters, Jody North of Lewiston and Judy and her husband Lee Tubbs of Windham; two grandchildren, Michele and Paul; and one great-granddaughter, Kara Leanne.
